Russell Wilson’s costly and fruitless tenure in Denver has come to an early end as the Broncos have announced that they would be cutting the quarterback off their roster.

The Broncos general manager George Paton and coach Sean Payton released a statement together that stated, “We spoke with Russell Wilson today to inform him of his release after the start of the league year [which starts] next Wednesday.”

Wilson thanked the Broncos cafeteria staff, the city of Denver, a few of his teammates, and himself in a statement he released; however, he made no mention of Payton or Paton. “Tough times don’t last, but tough people do,” he said as he concluded. God knows me. I am eager to see what comes next.

The Broncos will accept $85 million in dead money, an NFL record.
