Dad of Trae Young Reacts to Shake Milton Signing with the Knicks
When the father of Atlanta Hawks player Trae Young found out that Shake Milton, a veteran guard, had cleared waivers, he was taken aback.
“What the devil, man? How many talented players do the [Knicks] really need? This signing is AMAZING. The NBA needs players with Shake Milton’s skill to score baskets. Trae Young’s father, Ray Young, wrote on X, a platform that was originally Twitter.
In light of the recent spate of injuries to their rotation, the Knicks are acquiring Milton to strengthen their bench depth. He will occupy the last available position on their roster.
According to SNY’s Ian Begley, Milton was a target for the Knicks even prior to their trades for Alec Burks and Bojan Bogdanovic.
Begley wrote on X after Milton’s signing became widely known, “As they monitored Alec Burks, Bojan Bogdanovic & DET, NYK checked in w/MIN on Shake Milton prior to trade deadline.”
was the first to reveal that Milton would be joining the Knicks.
After leading the Hawks to an Eastern Conference Finals participation in 2021 and a first-round series victory, Trae Young gained recognition as the Garden villain of the contemporary era.
when then, Young and the Hawks have regressed, while the Knicks have steadily progressed when Jalen Brunson joined the team, leading them to the second round of the playoffs the previous year.
