The Yankees have hired Aaron Leanhardt as an analyst to the major league coaching staff. Leanhardt will be in the clubhouse and help with the way the information is given to players, which was something that Gerrit Cole and Aaron Judge had been worried about. Steinbrenner made this announcement on Thursday.
In addition to being a coach, Leanhardt “is unbelievably versed and intelligent in analytics,” according to Steinbrenner. “Excellent at working with people, listening to what they have to say, and teaching and clarifying concepts.” Judge has already worked with him one-on-one for an hour or two, and he is fond of him.
He will therefore be a fantastic addition. There are a lot of questions regarding the big changes—we’re welcoming a new member to the clubhouse. That is, in my opinion, a huge development.

Although the Yankees have a club option through 2025, Aaron Boone is about to enter the final year of his contract. Steinbrenner would not disclose what Boone needed to do to earn a new contract, though.
