Latrell Wrightsell Jr., the starting guard for Alabama basketball, was absent from the team’s Wednesday game against Florida.
Wrightsell has a head injury, a UA representative informed the Tuscaloosa News.
“After the game, I hope we can get Wrightsell back soon,” stated Alabama coach Nate Oats. “Every day, his performance is assessed. When he begins to feel a little better is something we need to watch.”
Wrightsell’s absence is not negligible. He is among Alabama’s most dependable offensive players and one of the most effective offensive players overall; according to KenPom, he ranks sixth in the nation.Without Wrightsell, Alabama probably shuffles the lineup a little. Wrightsell’s absence allowed Alabama to incorporate a larger presence into the starting lineup, with Sears, Estrada, and Griffen occupying the first through third slots. The Crimson Tide had been utilizing a smaller lineup consisting of Mark Sears, Wrightsell, Aaron Estrada, Rylan Griffen, and Grant Nelson.
Jarin Stevenson, a rookie forward, started at the No. 4 position.
