In the popular sitcom, Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver was portrayed by the former child star from 1957 until 1963.

When the show ended, the actor was only a teenager and suddenly unemployed. However, he claimed that when the cameras stopped, life was blissful.

He also mentioned that the close-knit crew and actors were eager to move on.

Mathers said, “It was a lot of work, not that we were tired of it.” Every day at eight o’clock, we had to report to the studio and work until five. Additionally, we frequently had PR to complete on the weekends. It was just time, not that I didn’t like it. While [my co-star] Tony Dow was preparing for college, I was getting ready for high school. We definitely wouldn’t have been able to accomplish that if we were still in the program.”

Most recently, Mathers attended a special tribute to the Motion Picture Mothers at The Hollywood Museum with his 96-year-old mother, Marilyn Mathers. In 1939, a small social group of ladies whose children were in show business started the nonprofit organization. As of right now, Marilyn is the organization’s president.
