Legendary art-rock pioneers Talking Heads have officially announced their long-awaited return to the music scene, revealing a brand-new studio album titled Reconnected—their first in over three decades. The album is set for global release on May 1, 2025, marking a monumental comeback for the band known for genre-defying classics such as Psycho Killer, Once in a Lifetime, and Burning Down the House.
In tandem with the album release, Talking Heads will embark on a highly anticipated world tour dubbed The Final Encore, kicking off in June 2025. Spanning more than 50 cities across North America, Europe, and Australia, the tour promises to be a celebration of the band’s groundbreaking history, while also ushering in a new chapter with fresh material.
The tour’s production is expected to be state-of-the-art, echoing the theatrical style the band famously brought to their 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense. According to insiders, audiences can expect immersive visuals, expanded arrangements, and reimagined versions of beloved tracks alongside brand-new songs from Reconnected.
This major comeback comes at a time of renewed cultural appreciation for Talking Heads. In September 2024, all four original members—David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison—reunited publicly for the first time in over 20 years to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Stop Making Sense with an IMAX re-release and live Q&A sessions.
Adding to the momentum, Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz were recently inducted into the 2025 New England Music Hall of Fame, recognizing their lifelong contributions to music and their influence on the Connecticut arts community. The induction took place in early April and highlighted their lasting impact both within and beyond the band.
Fans around the world are already buzzing with excitement over the return of one of music’s most innovative groups. With Reconnected and The Final Encore tour, Talking Heads are not just revisiting the past—they’re proving they still have something new to say.
