Huge Trade: 3 Blockbuster Trades John Harbaugh announced
Huge Trade: 3 Blockbuster Trades John Harbaugh announced the Ravens finalized this summer. The Baltimore Ravens have signed quarterback Cooper Rush as a backup for two-time MVP Lamar Jackson, the team announced Tuesday.
Rush, 31, started eight games for the Dallas Cowboys last season while Dak Prescott was sidelined with an injury. A Central Michigan alum, he finished the season with a passer rating of 83.8 and has played in 38 career games since his NFL debut in 2017 with the Cowboys.
Last season, Josh Johnson served as Jackson’s primary backup but attempted only three passes. Johnson is now an unrestricted free agent.
The Ravens also have Devin Leary, a sixth-round draft pick from last year, on their quarterback depth chart.

Following the initial wave of 2025 free agency, the Baltimore Ravens are at a pivotal stage in shaping their roster. With a solid core that consistently competes in the AFC, the team is focused on fine-tuning rather than overhauling. Under GM Eric DeCosta and head coach John Harbaugh, Baltimore has built a reputation for finding value at every stage of the draft. Using Pro Football Network’s (PFN) draft simulator, we conducted a five-round mock draft to identify how the Ravens could maximize their selections and strengthen key positions.
Keeping Ronnie Stanley Was a Major Win
For a time, it seemed like left tackle Ronnie Stanley might explore free agency, which would have made re-signing him a challenge. However, the Ravens managed to secure a new deal with their franchise left tackle before free agency officially began—a huge win for the front office.
Baltimore did part ways with offensive lineman Patrick Mekari and cornerback Brandon Stephens, but protecting Lamar Jackson’s blindside helps offset those losses. Additionally, DeAndre Hopkins joins the receiving corps, bringing experience and reliability. While no longer at his All-Pro peak, Hopkins remains a dependable target.
The team also signed backup quarterback Cooper Rush, adding depth behind Jackson, particularly for a grueling late-season schedule. With these foundational moves in place, the NFL Draft presents a key opportunity to address remaining roster needs and reinforce Baltimore’s Super Bowl aspirations.
