Colts Bolster Offense with New Weapon to Support Anthony. On Thursday, the Indianapolis Colts made a bold move by signing quarterback Daniel Jones, setting up a competitive dynamic with Anthony Richardson as he enters his third season. Jones, a veteran signal-caller, had a rocky start in the NFL, posting a 12-25 record in his first three years with the New York Giants. Colts Bolster Offense with New Weapon to Support Anthony.

According to an NFL mock draft by FOX Sports’ David Helman, the Colts are expected to use the 14th overall pick on Michigan tight end Colston Loveland. Indianapolis has struggled to get consistent production from the tight-end position in recent years—last season, Kylen Granson led the group with just 14 catches for 182 yards. The last time a Colts tight end surpassed 50 receptions was back in 2018 when Eric Ebron hauled in 66 passes for 750 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Loveland, meanwhile, had an impressive 2023 campaign at Michigan, recording 56 receptions for 582 yards and five touchdowns in just 10 games. NFL Combine analyst Lance Zierlein describes him as a “talented young tight end with the athletic ability and ball skills to become an elite talent as a pass catcher.” His ability to play like a big-bodied wide receiver makes him a threat at all three levels of the field. If the Colts do draft Loveland, he’d provide a much-needed weapon over the middle, helping take pressure off outside receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce—especially in the red zone. However, the biggest storyline in Indy remains unresolved: Will Richardson or Jones take the reins as the Colts’ starting quarterback? Colts Bolster Offense with New Weapon to Support Anthony.

Interestingly, in another mock draft, analyst Luke Easterling predicts Loveland will land with the Los Angeles Chargers at No. 22. With draft day approaching, it’ll be interesting to see how the Colts address their offensive needs. Colts Bolster Offense with New Weapon to Support Anthony.
