Ohio State’s 5-star commit seen in Eugene. Ohio State commit Chris Henry Jr., one of the top prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, might not be as locked in as it seemed. The five-star wide receiver pledged to the Buckeyes in July 2023, but Oregon is making a strong push to flip him. Head coach Dan Lanning has been a force on the recruiting trail since taking over the Ducks, and he’s gaining momentum with Henry Jr.

Despite his Ohio State commitment, Henry Jr. is currently in Eugene for a visit with Oregon’s staff.

“Ohio State 5-star WR commit Chris Henry Jr. is currently visiting Oregon,” recruiting insider Pete Nakos reported.

Ranked as the No. 9 overall player in the 2026 class by 247Sports, Henry Jr. is the No. 2 wide receiver and the second-best prospect in California. He plays at powerhouse Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, a program known for producing elite college talent.

A knee injury sidelined Henry Jr. for much of his junior season, but when healthy, he’s considered one of the most dynamic wide receivers in the class. At nearly 6-foot-6 and 195 pounds, he possesses rare length for his position, along with elite agility and quickness for his size. His scouting report praises his ability to explode off the line, change direction with ease, and dominate in contested catch situations. Ohio State’s 5-star commit seen in Eugene.

“He has the long speed to stretch the field and hit the home run, combined with the size and sure hands to be a go-to target on key third downs,” his evaluation states. “He’s dominant in the air on jump balls, and as he continues to fill out and gain strength, his game will reach another level.”
