The Texas A&M Aggies have made significant moves in the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason, adding key players to strengthen their offense. On Sunday, the focus shifted to defense.

According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Texas A&M has secured a commitment from former Georgia Bulldogs cornerback Julian Humphrey.

Humphrey started 10 games for Georgia this season before deciding to enter the portal. He was ranked as the No. 2 cornerback and the No. 32 overall player in the portal, according to On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings.

On3 reported on December 2 that Texas A&M was expected to be among the contenders for Humphrey, who has spent the last two years at Georgia. He did not play in the SEC Championship game against Texas.

A Houston native from Clear Lake High School, Humphrey was a four-star recruit in the 2022 class. He visited College Station three times in 2021 and listed Texas A&M among his final five schools, alongside Arizona State, LSU, Penn State, and USC. Humphrey initially committed to Florida but later switched to Georgia.

Utah transfer punter Jack Bouwmeester announces commitment to Texas.

Former Utah Utes punter Jack Bouwmeester has committed to Texas football after visiting Austin on December 12, according to a post on his X account on December 13. Bouwmeester spent two days in Austin before announcing his decision to join the Longhorns later that Friday.

Bouwmeester, a senior grad transfer, has already signed the necessary paperwork to officially join Texas for the upcoming offseason, according to Horns247.

In 2024, Bouwmeester earned Second-Team All-Big 12 honors after leading the conference in total punting yards (2,680) and punt attempts (60). He also topped the Big 12 in punts downed inside the 20-yard line (23) and punts over 50 yards (14).

This marks the third school in Bouwmeester’s collegiate career. He began with Michigan State in 2019 as a three-star recruit from the ProKick Academy in Australia. After a couple of years at Michigan State, he returned to Australia before transferring to Utah for the 2022 season. At Utah, he spent three seasons handling punting duties under head coach Kyle Whittingham.

During the 2023 season, Bouwmeester was named a First-Team All-Pac-12 punter, leading the conference in yards per punt (45.5) and average hangtime (4.08 seconds). He was also a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award, which honors the nation’s top punter.

This is the second time in three years that Texas special teams coordinator Jeff Banks has added a grad transfer punter. In the 2023 offseason, Banks brought in Ryan Sanborn from Stanford to handle punting duties. This past season, true freshman Michael Kern handled the punting for Texas, averaging 40.5 yards per punt with 3.74 seconds of hangtime on 31 punts.
