Running back Saquon Barkley put on another outstanding performance in Week 13 of the Philadelphia Eagles’ 24-19 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, displaying the domination that has characterized his 2024 year.

Barkley scored a game-winning 25-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter and ran for 107 yards on 23 carries. His capacity to step up has been essential to the Eagles’ success this season, as they approach Week 14 with a 10-2 record.

Barkley’s exploits in the closing minutes of the game affected Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey as much as the scoreboard.

Humphrey discussed a friendly yet competitive conversation he had with Barkley prior to the game-winning score on his podcast, Punch Line.

“When I broke this run, he dapped me up and told me not to use your track speed,” Humphrey recounted. With 7:56 left in the game, Barkley broke through the defense and ran past the Ravens’ secondary to score a touchdown, giving the Eagles a 21–12 lead.

Humphrey said that Barkley’s assurance briefly astounded him.

Reflecting on the interaction, Humphrey remarked, “Then he broke a run and was moving pretty fast, and I thought, ‘Man, this guy is arrogant.’ I didn’t like that.”

The moment appeared to stem from mutual respect, even though it was a lighthearted jibe.

Although the Ravens had opportunities to take the lead in the game, their fate was sealed by two missed field goals and an extra point from Justin Tucker.

NFL rumors: The Ravens might not cut Diontae Johnson because of the Steelers

Diontae Johnson, the standout wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens, presents a significant challenge. Although Johnson played minimally at first and then did not log a single snap in the team’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore appeared to strengthen their pass-catching corps when they acquired him from the Carolina Panthers prior to the trade deadline.

Then, after Johnson declined to report into their game against Philadelphia on Wednesday, Baltimore surprised the league by suspending him for one game. Johnson’s future with the Ravens is therefore uncertain, and although there are rumors that they may decide to cut him, they may be prevented from doing so by their upcoming Week 16 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are familiar with Johnson and could use wide receiver assistance.

“Something to keep in mind if Baltimore cuts Johnson: It plays Pittsburgh — Johnson’s old team — in Week 16,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said. It’s uncertain if the Steelers would want him back, but according to some league observers, Baltimore might decide to hang onto him if he shares offensive information with Pittsburgh.

NFL rumors: The Steelers reason why Ravens may not release Diontae Johnson

The Ravens must resolve the Diontae Johnson controversy.

Ideally, Johnson would have blended in with his new club right away, but things haven’t gone as planned. The fact that the Ravens themselves suspended him isn’t encouraging, even though the two parties could attempt to work things out. It would make sense to release him, but if they do so, he might simply rejoin the Steelers and provide them with inside knowledge about Baltimore’s operations.

Whatever happens, the Ravens need to work out a solution with Johnson since they now have a significant off-field distraction looming over the club. Although the team has some time to work things out because they are presently on a bye, Johnson will not play against the New York Giants in Week 15 and it is unclear if he will be with the team when he is able to return in Week 16.
