Running back Trevor Etienne is one of the more intriguing plotlines leading up to Georgia football’s matchup with Florida on Saturday. The standout running back transferred to Georgia, where he has already achieved great success, after spending his first two NCAA seasons at Florida.
Etienne will undoubtedly be feeling very emotional this weekend. However, the running back seems to be adjusting to them well and is eager to face his old colleagues and squad.
Kirby Smart is aware of how distracting Etienne might find this contest. Smart made a comment about that earlier this week, outlining the steps Etienne must take to defeat his old side.
“Yes, concentrate on the assignment. There’s no chance… You should avoid being overly emotional. Via Dawgpost.com, Smart remarked. “That doesn’t seem to help at all. Dom has experienced it a few times with several guys from Missouri. Now, that’s the nicest thing about college football. We don’t get caught up in it too much since we’ve had kids go down there. After all, what will ultimately motivate you to perform well? It isn’t concerned about that.
Concentrating on the current task
The excellent point raised by Smart is that Etienne should focus on his own game and not becoming overly distracted by the added hype surrounding it. Going overboard and trying too hard is the last thing Etienne needs to do because it can do more harm than good. Etienne must accept the Florida defense’s offer and allow the game come to him without pressuring them.
Etienne will have several chances to make an impression on this game, which is wonderful news for him. As with his performance against Texas, Etienne will be the featured back on his own since both Roderick Robinson and Branson Robinson are once again listed as out on Georgia’s injury report. He performed admirably against the Longhorns, as we are all aware.
At this point, it appears that Etienne is speaking appropriately and controlling his emotions. When he lines up against the Gators this weekend, let’s hope that keeps up.
Two important Georgia football injury updates are given by Kirby Smart.
So far this season, Georgia football has had to cope with a number of injuries. It’s common to anticipate significant progress on the injury report during the bye week, but Georgia didn’t always make it happen this past week.
But defensive lineman Mykel Williams and offensive lineman Tate Ratledge are two important guys Georgia is hoping will return fully soon. With an additional week off, it is hoped that both players, who have lost a lot of time this season, will return to full fitness.
On Monday, Kirby Smart gave an update on both of their statuses, and it appears that they are making improvement.
Update on Tate Ratledge’s Injury
“We have hope. “We believe he will be able to provide us with something,” Smart stated through Dawgpost.com. “He took some reps, broke some last week, and spent the weekend recovering. I hope he’s ready to go. He is really important to him, therefore I know he wants to play.
Ratledge had warmed up for both of Georgia’s games and worn the uniform in recent games, but he was benched and kept for emergencies. He won’t have to wait for an emergency to get on the field this Saturday against Florida, though.
This past week, Ratledge was still recovering from an ankle injury, but he was still on the field practicing with his teammates, according to Smart. Smart hasn’t hurried Ratledge back, most likely because Georiga’s offensive line has been playing really well lately. However, when he returns to the starting lineup and plays on a regular basis, his experience will be appreciated.
Update on Mykel Williams’ Injury
“Mykel hasn’t been filled yet. “He wasn’t fully recovered and at full strength last week,” Smart stated. “I want to make that known. I believe that people believe he didn’t play many snaps based on his performance against Texas. He most likely did not play the full part he was supposed to play versus Clemson. We believe that this week will see a significant improvement in him.
Conversely, Williams has participated in the last three games, but his performance has fallen short of what we would anticipate. Despite playing few snaps, he has only recorded four tackles in the last three games. However, this number did include a forced fumble and two sacks in Georgia’s victory over Texas.
Sadly, Smart revealed that Williams is still not fully recovered. Williams should be out there and get more snaps than he has since the season opener against Clemson, but it is likely that he will play a smaller role than we would anticipate versus Florida once more. However, Williams will be prepared by the time the postseason arrives if he keeps moving in the correct manner.
