The Colorado Buffaloes had a 1-11 season two years prior. The program didn’t seem to have any chance of reviving at the moment. However, a change in head coaching during the offseason gave Colorado fresh life and elevated them to the forefront of collegiate football.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, the former head coach of Jackson State, a historically black college and university, was that hire, of course. He brought a lot of fresh players and a new attitude to the program. Sanders has led the Buffaloes to a 6-2 start to 2024 after they were 4-8 in his debut season.

For the first time since 2016, Colorado has secured at least a.500 regular season record with their 34-23 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats on Sunday.

And for everyone who didn’t think they could succeed, one of their best players had a message.

A Message for the Colorado Buffaloes’ Detractors from Star Carter Stoutmire

Colorado safety Carter Stoutmire was captured on camera after the game telling anyone who had any doubts about Sanders and his team heading into the season:

“Never again treat us disrespectfully. We don’t pay attention to the naysayers; we came out here. We simply play ball and go about our business. We’re winning ten, not just six. We’re going to go bowling.

The last time Colorado participated in a Bowl Game was in the Alamo Bowl in 2020 against the Buffaloes, who were then 5-7.

One of the new guys Sanders brought on board when he was originally hired, Stoutmire has two passes defended and 25 tackles this season.

Deion Sanders, the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, refused to be ranked.

By winning football games, Sanders and his team have responded to those who have questioned them throughout the season. The Buffaloes have been consistently left off of the AP Top-25 rankings each week, despite their impressive season.

Sanders delivered a direct message to AP voters following Sunday’s game:

“We’re not even interested in ranking. Please don’t rank us. That bothers us. We would prefer to sit at the back, in the dark, and simply relax in the cut. We are straight, cool, and good. Therefore, don’t feel compelled to rank us.

The AP, however, did not pay attention. On Monday, the rankings were announced, and Colorado was ranked 23rd.
