After falling to the Georgia Bulldogs 30–15 in their opening game of the season, the Texas Longhorns are in dire need of a victory going into Week 9 versus Vanderbilt. The No. 25-ranked program in the nation recently shocked Alabama a few weeks ago, so the Commodores aren’t a team No. 5 Texas can afford to take lightly. All hands must be on deck for the Longhorns, but it looks like quarterback Quinn Ewers will be missing a crucial weapon.
According to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, wide receiver Isaiah Bond has been rated from questionable to doubtful for this match. The pass-catcher attempted to play through an ankle injury he sustained against Georgia in Week 7 of the Red River Rivalry versus Oklahoma.
But he only had two receptions for 11 yards and a touchdown, so that didn’t work out. Bond may have an additional week to recuperate as Texas has a bye coming up in Week 10. With 23 catches for 380 yards and four touchdowns, the wideout has been the Longhorns’ finest downfield option. It is thought that he will be ready to go when Texas plays Florida on November 9.
Regarding resting Bond prior to the bye week, Sarkisian stated, “You answered the question for me,” through Nakos. “There’s a fine line in figuring that out.” Ewers’ primary target on Saturday will be tight end Gunnar Helm if Bond is unable to go. In this offensive, Ryan Wingo and Matthew Golden are also performing admirably.
Georgia is “heavily considering” having the four-star quarterback switch.
On the recruiting road, Kirby Smart and his team recently made an intriguing choice that is hard to completely comprehend.
Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, a new quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class, was presented by Smart and his team earlier this week. Given that Ryan Montomery, a fellow four-star quarterback, is already committed to Georgia football in their 2025 recruiting class, this is an intriguing move. Montgomery, who now ranks in the top 100 players in the 247Sport Composite rankings, is also no slouch.
Nevertheless, Smart and his team made the decision to offer Sagapolutele. Since an offer doesn’t always indicate that the program is interested and seeking a commitment, we were unable to determine at the time how interested Georgia’s staff was in Sagapolutele.
But after receiving this current offer, Sagapolutele is “heavily considering” Georgia, according to a report on Wednesday by On3.

Here are a few things to consider. According to the first, Sagapolutele’s interest in Georgia does not necessarily imply that Smart and his team would agree to a commitment from him right now. Although it is currently impossible to verify, it is likely that they do have some interest given Smart’s offer to him at this late stage of the cycle.
It’s also important to keep in mind that Sagapolutele has been with Cal since July. In contrast to his relatively recent and youthful relationship with Georgia, it is evident that he has a long-standing bond with Cal.
Finally, since their current quarterback has already committed to their class, Georgia must exercise caution in how they handle this news. Having two quarterbacks in the same recruiting class is extremely rare, and Montgomery might be put off by Georgia’s intense pursuit of Sagapolutele. Although Montgomery hasn’t publicly expressed his frustration with this or his consideration of leaving Georgia, the option is always there.
As a result, we now have little idea of Georgia’s true feelings regarding Sagapolutele. For Georgia to make him an offer this late in the cycle and for Sagapolutele to state that he is already thinking about the Bulldogs, there must be some mutual interest, though.
