The Chicago Bulls recently made a signing that may benefit them in 2024–2025; nonetheless, there will undoubtedly be criticism around it.

Josh Primo, who last played for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2023–24, is being signed by the Bulls, according to Darnell Mayberry’s NBACentral report on Thursday morning.

There is a major issue with this deal, even though he might end up being helpful to the Bulls.

To be clear, Primo is only bound by an Exhibit 10 contract, which implies he may not play for the Bulls in the end.

In addition, he is currently recovering from an injury, so it can take some time before he is prepared for the court.

However, Primo has a troubled past, and the Bulls may need to address that.

Following his debut season of signing with the San Antonio Spurs, Primo produced outstanding work.

But the Spurs released him in October 2022 when it was revealed that he had allegedly exposed himself to several women while on the squad.

After Primo’s management promised that he would explore into receiving mental health treatment, the NBA concluded its inquiry into the situation and verified his actions in 2023.

Primo was dismissed by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2024 after being signed in September of 2023.

He will now get another opportunity to play in the league, this time with a team that is in dire need of him.

Primo might face criticism from supporters who are upset to see him, though, as a result of the charges against him, and it might be challenging for him to get a permanent position in the league.

Chicago Bulls Reportedly Sign Former NBA 1st-Round Pick

Joshua Primo is returning to the NBA to try his luck.

The Chicago Bulls are reportedly on the verge of signing controversial guard Primo to an Exhibit 10 deal, according to Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic on Thursday. Mayberry continues, saying that as he recovers from an injury and prepares to make a comeback to the NBA, he is anticipated to join the Windy City Bulls, Chicago’s G League affiliate.

Primo was the No. 12 overall choice of the San Antonio Spurs in the 2021 NBA Draft, despite only being 21 years old. But he became an infamous figure after being accused of exposing himself to women, including an ex-Spurs psychologist, during his tenure with the team. Later on, the psychologist would sue Primo and the Spurs, alleging that they failed to act quickly, but the case would ultimately be resolved.

After launching an investigation into Primo’s claims, the NBA found that he had exposed himself to ladies, even though he had not previously engaged in any sexual misbehavior. As a result, Primo was suspended for a fair amount of time. Primo was not prosecuted criminally by local prosecutors because of insufficient evidence.

Primo played for the Los Angeles Clippers the previous season before being dismissed by the Spurs shortly after the incident surfaced. He agreed to a two-way contract, which was later changed to a conventional agreement. He only featured in two games with the Clippers, though, but he did make 30 appearances last season in the G League (averaging 16.7 points per game). Primo would ultimately be waived by the Clippers in April ahead of the postseason.

With Zach LaVine, a multiple All-Star, Coby White, a finalist for Most Improved Player, and past All-Rookie selection Ayo Dosunmu, the Bulls already appear to have a formidable backcourt. In the summer trade, Josh Giddey was acquired, and Lonzo Ball might make a full recovery from his injury. The 6-foot-4 Primo has enough potential for the Bulls to consider a chance.
