Illinois’s Lake Forest Prior to their primetime matchup with the Houston Texans on Sunday night, the Chicago Bears are making some roster changes. Due to a shoulder and elbow injury he sustained in Week 1 against Tennessee, offensive lineman Ryan Bates was placed on injured reserve by the Bears on Saturday.

Bates will now miss at least the next four games due to the injury. The Bears acquired Bates from the Buffalo Bills this offseason. The Bears were not convinced on either Bates or Nate Davis as the starting right guard in Week 1. Bates and Davis split time at that position. Going ahead, with Bates out, Davis has the job to lose.

The Bears elevated long snapper Scott Daly and wide receiver Collin Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster in addition to placing Bates on injured reserve. Last week, Daly played in lieu of Patrick Scales, who was hurt.

Johnson is standing for the first time, indicating that the Bears, who are suffering with injuries this week, will be without either Rome Odunze or Keenan Allen, or maybe both.

Bills defensive captain LB Terrel Bernard leaves early.

The Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins opened Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season as the featured team on “Thursday Night Football.”

The Bills are ahead 31-10 at the time this report is published in the third quarter. Josh Allen, the quarterback for the Bills, has completed a touchdown pass while James Cook, the running back, is making plays both in the air and on the ground. He has three touchdowns as well. The Dolphins’ dynamic attack has been effectively contained by the Bills defense, who have only allowed QB Tua Tagovailoa three interceptions, including a pick six.

Bills defensive captain LB Terrel Bernard exits game early with pectoral injury

Linebacker Terrel Bernard, the defensive captain of the Bills, left the game early due to a pectoral injury, which was the only blow to the team heading into the second half. Bernard had two tackles before leaving the game. He said on the Prime Video stream shortly after the third quarter began that he would not be playing again.

Bernard made a tackle in the first quarter, which resulted in the injury. He didn’t come back to the field; instead, he went back into the tunnel. The Bills eventually said he was out for the remainder of the game, but first stated it was a pectoral injury and that his return was uncertain. LB Baylon Spector replaced him on the defensive side of the ball in the meantime.

The Bills lost tonight against defenders other than Bernard. Casey Toohill, a defensive end, is doubtful to play in tonight’s game due to a knee injury.
