Blue Jays outfielder Cam Eden is acquired by the Yankees

Eden had a run and a hit in five Blue Jays games during the previous campaign. He is a native of California’s Yuba City. In the sixth round of the 2019 MLB Draft, the Blue Jays selected the 26-year-old player. This season, at Triple-A, Eden was slashing.198/.299/.322, with seven home runs, 35 RBI, and 26 stolen bases. He has 153 base steals in five minor league seasons. After doing their study, the Yankees have added pinch runner and bench depth that they may use come postseason time. Eden will blend in with the Bronx Bombers like clockwork. Eden, though, isn’t yet included among the 40 players.

Yankees Acquire Bench Depth From Blue Jays

It’s ironic that Eden’s opening game was against the Yankees. Regretfully, he has experienced offensive and defensive setbacks while in the lesser leagues. With any luck, the Yankees can help him discover his calling. Eden is an outfielder who predominantly plays left field. He has also filled in as a designated hitter. His speed and history of stolen bases are pretty outstanding, even with occasional setbacks. In actuality, Eden leads all Triple-A players in stolen bases. Over 222 games, he stole 79 bases. That makes the Yankees’ attraction to him obvious. Eden may be compared to a Terrance Gore from 2019.

Players who haven’t been added to a 40-man roster have the option to be traded even after the MLB Trade Deadline has passed. The prospect of seeing Eden play alongside Jonatan Clase in the Buffalo Bisons outfield thrilled Blue Jays supporters. However, this move gives him the opportunity to play in the major leagues. Eden might enter the game for the Yankees in the postseason as a pinch runner at a crucial juncture.

Anthony Volpe of the Yankees escapes serious injury.

During the Yankees’ 9–4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night, starting shortstop Anthony Volpe had a significant injury scare. Volpe, who has featured in 115 games so far this season, lost control of the ball with his left foot and fell to the ground. He was obviously in agony right away, and the Yankees had to take him out of the game early for imaging.

Avoiding a More Serious Injury: The Yankees

Thankfully, Volpe’s x-rays showed no problems, providing comfort that the accident isn’t too significant. On the other hand, it could leave a glossy bruise that appears days later. Volpe is unlikely to play on Friday due to the nature of the injury and the Yankees’ wish to allow him some recovery. They will play the Texas Rangers, and they might consider moving Oswaldo Cabrera to shortstop in order to accommodate him.

Thankfully, Volpe was in “good spirits” after the defeat, according to manager Aaron Boone.

Boone stated, “He’s in pretty good spirits right now.” “It’s being treated like a contusion. Hopefully he’s back out there and everything is okay.

Volpe is hitting.257/.304/.401 this season, with 20 stolen bases, 45 RBIs, and 11 home runs. The young shortstop for the Yankees is hitting after the All-Star break. The timing of the injury couldn’t have been worse, as he was finally settling into a groove and cranking up the pace, finishing with a 320 slugging rate.

A Master of Defense

With 12 outs over average and a.974 fielding percentage, the 23-year-old is among the greatest shortstops in the game defensively. He has also saved four runs. Either Cabrera or Jazz Chisholm should start at shortstop, however I think Cabrera is the most likely option.

With eight home runs and 34 RBIs so far this season, the 25-year-old utility player is hitting.243. He’s been a reliable backup, and Boone will use him in just this kind of situation to assist in covering a vacancy.
