Heading into Friday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs, the Suns are mired in an eight-game losing streak. Star forward Kevin Durant will miss his sixth straight game due to an ankle sprain. At 37 years old, it’s possible Durant has already played his final minutes in a Suns uniform.
Durant has now been ruled out for both the Spurs matchup and the season finale on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings. Head coach Mike Budenholzer confirmed his absence, effectively closing the book on Durant’s 2024–25 season.
Despite the team’s struggles, Durant’s individual numbers remained strong. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game on stellar efficiency—shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from three-point range, and 83.9% from the free-throw line. His elite production shows he still has plenty left to offer, making him a valuable target if Phoenix decides to shop him in the offseason.
However, Durant’s inability to help push the Suns into the playoffs, even with another elite scorer like Booker alongside him, has raised some concerns. It’s clear that despite Durant’s talents, the Suns’ current formula has fallen short of expectations.
