“I spoke to him”: Sean Dyche reveals six shocking words he told David Moyes about Everton’s players before his sacking.

Everton parted ways with Sean Dyche a couple of months ago, and the former manager is now opening up about his time at the club.

Since David Moyes took over, the Toffees have enjoyed a nine-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League, though a tough run of fixtures in April could put that record to the test. Nevertheless, Everton have positioned themselves well to secure their top-flight status ahead of their move to Bramley-Moore Dock.

Dyche has spoken highly of Moyes and the impact he has made at Goodison Park since taking over in January. In a recent media appearance, the 53-year-old shared details of his conversation with Moyes before his departure.

Dyche’s Message to Moyes Before His Everton Exit

Dyche, who previously criticized Dominic Calvert-Lewin for cutting holes in his socks, revealed that one of the things he told Moyes was that players wanted certain rules relaxed if he took charge.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Dyche reflected on his exchange with Moyes during the transition.

“He’s someone I admire. His career has had its ups and downs, but overall, he’s been brilliant,” Dyche said.

“I spoke to him during the changeover and assured him, ‘Moysey, they’re in good shape, mate. But the weight of it has become too much, and they’re fading. A new face, a fresh voice, a different approach—whatever you feel needs changing.’

“Most managers tend to go the opposite way from what I was doing. So now, they can wear snoods, white socks, no shin pads—all that.”

Since Dyche’s exit, some of his rules have been abandoned, with Everton players already seen wearing snoods. While it’s unclear whether these changes will impact results, they have likely influenced the atmosphere at Finch Farm.

Dyche Feels Unfairly Criticized Following Everton Exit

Dyche ultimately struggled to turn things around at Everton, with the squad responding well to a new voice. He believes the players struggled with the pressures of playing for a club of Everton’s stature.

“When I left, I said they were in good shape, and I got hammered for it,” Dyche added. “I spoke to him”: Sean Dyche reveals six shocking words.

According to Everton News, Dyche is expected to return to management in the Championship next season, with clubs like Leicester City eyeing a managerial change this summer. A step down could offer him a much-needed fresh start after a challenging end to his tenure at Everton.
