Class of 2027 quarterback prospect Trae Taylor is emerging as one of the top rising juniors at his position. Taylor is set to announce his college commitment on June 6.

Ranked as a four-star recruit, Taylor is considered the No. 4 quarterback in the nation, according to Rivals. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 180 pounds, he is also ranked as the No. 13 overall player nationally and the top recruit in Illinois. Taylor currently plays for Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein, Illinois.

Earlier this month, Taylor revealed his top five schools but has since expanded his list to include additional programs. One of the latest teams to enter the race is Georgia, which he plans to visit on March 22.

“They got involved late,” Taylor said regarding Georgia. “I want to build that relationship before I commit. A lot can change in a year and a half, so why not do my due diligence? It’s Georgia, after all!”

In addition to Georgia, Taylor has scheduled visits with several other programs, including Notre Dame (March 18), Illinois (March 24), Michigan (March 25), Nebraska (March 27), and Texas A&M (March 29).

While Georgia, Texas A&M, and Notre Dame have recently intensified their recruitment efforts, they may not have developed as strong of a personal connection with Taylor compared to some of the other programs in contention.

4-Star WR Names New Leader, Challenging Expert Predictions

Recruiting can be a tough process for the average fan to track, as many prospects keep their decisions and preferences private. This leaves fans guessing which schools are in the lead for a recruit’s commitment.

Fortunately, Georgia fans have recruiting analysts to rely on for updates regarding the Bulldogs’ top targets. However, even the experts can get it wrong, leading to unexpected twists in recruitment.

4-Star WR Ryan Mosley

Ryan Mosley, a four-star wide receiver from Carrollton, GA, is one of the nation’s top prospects. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he is the No. 179 overall player, the No. 28 wide receiver in the class, and the No. 24 recruit in Georgia.

In a recent interview with On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Mosley provided insights into his recruitment. The biggest takeaway? He stated that Georgia “still leads” for his commitment.

This revelation is surprising, as three recruiting experts on 247Sports had previously predicted that South Carolina would land Mosley—a forecast made just a month ago. Yet, Mosley’s use of “still” suggests that Georgia has remained his top choice all along, even when those predictions were made.

This situation highlights how even recruiting experts sometimes misread a recruitment. Luckily for Georgia, this time, the miscalculation appears to be in their favor. Now, Kirby Smart and his staff will look to seal the deal and add Mosley to an already talented recruiting class.
