Eagles have signed a former Giants pass rusher to help replace Josh Sweat. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the Philadelphia Eagles are replenishing their roster with talent from within the NFC East, even after losing key defensive players in free agency.
Source: Azeez Ojulari, a pass rusher, is agreeing to a one-year, $4 million contract with the Eagles. On X, formerly Twitter, Fowler stated, “Ojulari, who had 6.0 sacks last year, stays in NFC East with the Super Bowl champion.”
Ojulari played in 11 games, starting five of them, and tallied seven tackles for loss, 11 quarterback hits, and six sacks. During his appearances, he was on the field for 58% of defensive snaps and 12% of special teams snaps.
After being selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Ojulari has made 46 appearances in his first four seasons, including 30 starts. He has recorded 21 tackles for loss and 22.0 sacks overall. He ought to be an additional depth addition to cover for Josh Sweat, who joined the Arizona Cardinals in free agency.
The Eagles want to bolster their defensive line.
Josh Uche, who played for the Kansas City Chiefs the previous season, was signed by the Eagles earlier in free agency to help bolster their defensive line’s depth.
Uche was once a member of the New England Patriots until being traded to the Chiefs last season. Despite not playing in the Super Bowl, he concluded the season with the Chiefs with 10 tackles in six games. With the Patriots, Uche recorded 76 tackles, 20.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery before being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
One of the reasons the Eagles consistently win games is because they understand that the key to success begins in the trenches. They have mastered the art of selecting players who complement their defense, and it has paid off handsomely for them, as evidenced by their Super Bowl victory. Throughout the years, they have drafted players like Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter, and their growth has benefited them.

Over the previous few years, the Eagles have demonstrated their ability to hit on some huge free agents and find the ideal players in the offseason. It was Saquon Barkley last year, and based on his performance, you could argue that he was the Eagles’ MVP this season. Because of his excellent play, he was given a new contract and is currently the league’s highest-paid running back.
