Cardinals Received Good News Today. PITTSBURGH – Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum has agreed to an extension with the Arizona Cardinals, solidifying his role on their offensive line.

Beachum has had a long and steady NFL career, appearing in 179 games and starting 161. During his time with the Steelers, he played in 44 games, starting 39.

A product of SMU, Beachum was drafted by Pittsburgh in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the team before hitting free agency in 2016.

Beachum then had brief stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2016) and the New York Jets (2017-2019) before joining the Cardinals in 2020. Since then, Arizona has signed him to multiple short-term contracts, valuing his experience and versatility.

His decision to stay with the Cardinals affects the Steelers, who are in need of veteran depth on their offensive line. Beachum could have provided leadership and stability for Pittsburgh’s young unit, where a lack of experience may lead to discipline issues.

However, concerns about Beachum’s size have followed him since his college Pro Day, and at 35 years old, age is another factor. While he may no longer be an ideal long-term solution, his return to Arizona should bring much-needed stability to their offensive front.
