Francisco Lindor sends Juan Soto a powerful message

Mets Enter 2025 Season with High Expectations After Blockbuster Juan Soto Signing

After a heartbreaking NLCS loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the New York Mets are heading into the 2025 season with sky-high expectations. With spring training in full swing, the team boasts one of the most talented rosters in Major League Baseball.

The Mets made waves this offseason by securing Juan Soto on a historic 15-year, $765 million contract, the largest deal in American professional sports history. Soto, who played for the New York Yankees last season and made a World Series appearance, is expected to provide a major boost to the Mets’ lineup. Regarded as one of the best pure hitters in the game, he will be a key part of their offensive strategy.

On Wednesday, Soto’s new teammate, Francisco Lindor, who is expected to lead off in the batting order, shared his thoughts on Soto’s role. “My job is to get on base and let him do what he does best,” Lindor said. “He’s one of the top hitters in the game, and I know he’ll be great regardless. But as a leader, my focus is setting the stage for him and the rest of our lineup.”

Mets Strengthen Roster for Long-Term Success

Both Lindor and Soto were among the league’s top performers last season, and together, they are set to form one of the most dynamic duos at the top of the Mets’ batting order. Beyond acquiring Soto, the Mets have made additional roster moves aimed at strengthening the team for both the 2025 season and beyond.

At just 25 years old, Soto is positioned as the franchise cornerstone, with the organization building around him to create a perennial World Series contender—a stage he’s already familiar with after winning the championship with the Washington Nationals in 2019.

In 2024, Soto posted stellar numbers, batting .288 with 166 hits, 41 home runs, and 109 RBIs. Over his career, he has maintained a .285 batting average, totaling 934 hits, 201 homers, and 592 RBIs, along with an impressive .421 OBP and .953 OPS.

With Soto’s arrival and a revamped roster, the Mets are poised to make another deep playoff run in 2025.
