The Oregon Ducks remain in contention for one of the top wide receivers in the 2026 recruiting class, and they’ll soon have another opportunity to make their case.

According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Ohio State five-star commit Chris Henry Jr. has scheduled an official visit to Oregon from June 13-15. The Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA) standout will also visit Miami (May 30-June 1), USC (June 6-8), and Ohio State (June 20-22).

Henry Jr. originally committed to the Buckeyes in July 2023 but has drawn interest from numerous powerhouse programs, including Texas, Michigan, Georgia, Tennessee, Penn State, LSU, and Alabama.

His father, Chris Henry Sr., played wide receiver at West Virginia before being selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft. West Virginia extended an offer to Henry Jr. in hopes of securing a legacy commitment.

Henry Jr. attended Oregon’s game against Maryland on Nov. 9, where he witnessed the Ducks’ 39-18 victory. He later told On3 that the experience left a strong impression.

Henry remarked, “The Maryland game had an insane atmosphere.” “My strong bond with the coaches and the unique program they’re creating are what keep me returning to Oregon.”

Previously, Henry had a strong connection with former Oregon wide receivers coach Junior Adams, who has since joined the Dallas Cowboys. The Ducks have since hired Ross Douglas from Syracuse to take over the position for the 2025 season.

Henry has also taken unofficial visits to USC (twice), Ohio State, and Penn State, and attended Alabama and Clemson camps in 2023.

Given his NFL pedigree, Henry Jr. is already generating buzz as a future draft prospect. 247Sports analyst Greg Biggins even compared his talent to Jeremiah Smith, a top-ranked receiver in the 2024 class, noting that Henry possesses all the qualities of an elite next-level receiver.

Oregon is set to hire Ross Douglas as its next wide receivers coach

Douglas spent last season at Syracuse as the receivers coach and pass game coordinator, helping the Orange lead the nation in passing yards in 2024. Syracuse also ranked sixth in passing touchdowns and 25th in passing efficiency. Despite losing two of its top three receivers from 2023, the team had three players surpass 900 receiving yards under Douglas, including Georgia transfer Jackson Meeks, who recorded 1,021 yards and seven touchdowns.

Prior to joining Syracuse, Douglas worked for the New England Patriots for three seasons. He began as a defensive assistant in 2021 and was elevated to receivers coach in 2022, becoming the NFL’s youngest position coach at the time. Additionally, he has been a coach at Rutgers and Richmond.

Douglas, a former defensive back at Michigan (2013-15) and Rutgers (2016-17), began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Rutgers from 2018-20, working primarily with the secondary.

He replaces Junior Adams, who recently left Oregon to take the same role with the Dallas Cowboys.
