Head Coach Erik Spoelstra, Last season, the Miami Heat made headlines by trading for guard Terry Rozier from the Charlotte Hornets.

However, Rozier’s stint with the Heat hasn’t gone as expected, and concerns about his performance have grown louder.

On Wednesday, Ethan J. Skolnick from Five Reasons Sports provided some insight into how the organization feels about Rozier’s situation.

“I can tell you that no one in the front office is pressuring Erik Spoelstra to play Rozier,” Skolnick shared on Discord.

“Especially not after the trade deadline.”

According to Skolnick, Miami’s front office acknowledges that the trade was a mistake.

“The front office knows they messed up with that trade,” Skolnick added. “Just like we at Five on the Floor recognize that we were wrong to endorse it. Sometimes, trying too hard to make something happen can backfire.”

To acquire Rozier, the Heat traded Kyle Lowry and a first-round draft pick. At the time, the move seemed promising, as Rozier had been averaging 20 points per game for several seasons with the Hornets. The Heat were looking for an offensive boost, and many fans believed Rozier could deliver that.

Unfortunately, Rozier hasn’t performed at the same level since joining Miami. In 78 games with the Heat, he has averaged 14.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game while struggling with his shooting efficiency. He’s shot 41.4 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc.

A neck injury kept him out of the 2024 playoffs, preventing him from contributing when it mattered most. While he’s remained available for most of this season, some fans have questioned whether he deserves his current playing time.

The Rozier trade stands out as one of the most significant moves of the Jimmy Butler era. Throughout Butler’s time in Miami, there were calls for the Heat to give him stronger support. But both Rozier and Butler were injured during last season’s first-round playoff series against the Boston Celtics, which the Heat lost in five games.

Now that Butler’s time in Miami has come to an end, questions remain about Rozier’s future with the team. He’s under contract through next season, but it’s unclear how much longer he’ll stay in Miami.
