Breaking News: Moyes planned to recruit a Premier League-winning striker for Everton in January.
Before the Scot changed his mind about a possible introduction, Moyes reportedly investigated a deal to bring Batshuayi back to the Premier League, which would have been a surprise move for the Belgian star, according to the Alan Nixon story.
Beto is the only senior striker in Moyes’ squad after fellow talisman Armando Broja and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both sustained injuries in recent days. Moyes has been searching for another attacker to reinforce his ranks.
On transfer deadline day, Moyes signed the former Chelsea player to a two-and-a-half-year contract with Eintracht Frankfurt after performing ‘thorough’ background checks on him in anticipation of a possible late move. However, those reports were insufficient to persuade Moyes to take him on loan from Galatasaray for the second half of the season.
Nixon claimed that Everton was also interested in West Bromwich Albion youngster Tom Fellows and Rennes defender Adrien Truffert. However, the French team outbid the Toffees, and Goodison Park officials canceled a move for Championship star Fellows because their new owners wanted to save money for the summer transfer window.
The Premier League Career of Batshuayi Has Not Been Fruitful
After scoring 29 goals in 62 games for the Ligue 1 team, Batshuayi joined Chelsea from Marseille in 2016. However, due to a lack of playing time in west London, he only scored seven goals in his first 32 league games for the Blues, including a Premier League victory at West Brom. He was sent on loan to Valencia, Crystal Palace, and Besiktas, where he mostly failed to make an impression, but a good loan stint at Borussia Dortmund threatened to change that.

Six years after arriving to Stamford Bridge, he eventually got his big break in the long run when he completed a transfer to Fenerbahce, where he scored 44 goals in 75 appearances before making a contentious move to rival Galatasaray.
Despite having a goal differential that is 23 goals ahead of Leicester City’s, Moyes’ team is now nine points above the relegation zone with fourteen games left. This means that the Foxes must win at least three of their remaining games in order to draw even with Everton. Additionally, by avoiding rash, last-minute signings for players like Batshuayi, Moyes may have a sizable transfer budget to spend in the summer once Everton moves into their new Bramley Moore Dock stadium before the upcoming campaign.
