Los Angeles Lakers make another baffling trade decision that won’t surprise fans.Prior to the NBA trade deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers were among the most active teams. They addressed their center requirements by trading for Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets after startling the NBA community by getting Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks…
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Lakers signed NBA veteran Jordan Goodwin on a two-way contract to help with guarding the team, which was a little weak after the transactions.
Goodwin was added to the Lakers roster on Friday on a two-way deal. In a related move, the Lakers removed Armel Traore to create room for Goodwin because they already had three two-way contract players: Christian Koloko, Trey Jemison, and Traore.
Goodwin is eligible for a two-way contract because he has only three years of NBA experience. This season, he was a member of the South Bay Lakers of the G League.
The Lakers’ wing rotation was limited after they lost Max Christie, Dalton Knecht, and Cam Reddish in the Anthony Davis-Luka Doncic and Mark Williams trades. Goodwin can assist in that area, albeit on a two-way contract.
Goodwin will only be able to participate in 50 NBA games, including those in which he is on the roster but does not play. Unless the Lakers decide to change his contract to a regular one, he will not be able to participate in the playoffs. There are 33 games left in the Lakers’ regular season.
Joining the Los Angeles Lakers is Jordan Goodwin.
After splitting time with the Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies the season before, Goodwin joined the Lakers for training camp before the 2024–25 campaign. He was one of the final roster cuts made by the team during camp after playing for South Bay in the G League.
Goodwin had played 14 games for South Bay during the G League regular season. He has been averaging 14.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.0 steals while shooting 40.7 percent from the field, 30.1 percent from the three-point line, and 82.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Goodwin began his NBA career with the Washington Wizards in the 2021–22 season after going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft. He played in two games and signed a 10-day deal with the Wizards that year.
Goodwin would sign a two-way contract with the Wizards for the 2022–2023 campaign. Bradley Beal was traded to the Phoenix Suns and then rerouted to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of this huge deal. On a two-way contract, he played his final season with the Grizzlies.
