Trending!! Donte Jackson issues a stern warning to Steelers fans, demanding Mike Tomlin’s firing.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were eliminated from the playoffs once more, which prompted some to demand that Mike Tomlin be fired. After winning a Super Bowl in Tomlin’s second season, the Steelers have struggled to make the playoffs, particularly in recent years.

Since defeating the Chiefs in the divisional round of the 2016 season, the Steelers have not triumphed in a postseason game. But since then, Tomlin’s Steelers have lost six straight postseason games. The fan base no longer appears to be satisfied with just making it to the playoffs.

Those who want the team to let go of the longtime Steelers head coach were warned by cornerback Donte Jackson. Jackson advised Steelers supporters to “be careful what [they] wish for” during an appearance on The Christian Kuntz Podcast.

“I would simply tell the Tomlin haters, ‘Be careful what you wish for,'” Jackson remarked. In my six years at Carolina, I have witnessed three coaches lose their jobs during the season. Some players never witness a head coach being sacked in their entire tenure. For a period. Not in the season, anyway. During the season, I have witnessed three people being dismissed. That is absurd. I’ve spent six seasons under three interim head coaches.

Donte Jackson issues a stern warning

Steelers supporters are urged by Donte Jackson to reevaluate their desire to see Mike Tomlin fired.
After playing with the Carolina Panthers for the first six years of his career, Jackson joined the Steelers last summer. After seeing several coaches dismissed during the season, he noted on the show that his time with the Panthers made him truly appreciate what the Steelers have with Tomlin.

It sounds like Jackson is telling Steelers fans that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. If Tomlin were to go, Pittsburgh might have a difficult time finding a head coach that can help the team succeed in any way. Despite the fact that Tomlin hasn’t led the Steelers to a Super Bowl since the 2010 campaign, he regularly has this club winning and qualifying for the playoffs, even when it seems like they have no business doing so. That’s not something that many coaches can do. Donte Jackson issues a stern warning to Steelers fans, demanding Mike Tomlin’s firing.

Nevertheless, winning Super Bowls is the ultimate goal, and if your team isn’t succeeding in that regard, the seat will get hotter each year for each year that you fail to complete the most difficult task in sports. Jackson is correct that the Steelers may struggle to find a consistent winner, but someday another deep run will have to be made or it will be time to officially move on from Mike Tomlin for good.

Mike Tomlin, the head coach of the Steelers, is offended by Ben Johnson’s quarterback remarks.

A team’s winning mentality has a direct impact on its success in the NFL today. Aggressive head coaches are the best in this day of analytics. As everyone knows, Mike Tomlin, the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, would never be categorized as such.

Taking care of the football and reducing danger is the Steelers’ mentality, despite the catchphrase “we don’t live in our fears.” Ben Johnson is probably not in agreement.

As the most highly-regarded head coach candidate in the 2025 hiring cycle, Johnson, the new head coach of the Chicago Bears and former offensive coordinator for the Lions, had his pick of the litter. His aggressive offensive strategy, which aims to score as many points as possible against opponents, is partly to blame for this.

In his first press conference with the Bears, Johnson recently clarified that ball security isn’t a good indicator of a quarterback’s success.

“QB success is a ‘higher predictor of winning’ than turnover ratio,” Johnson said passionately. To put it another way, if the offense can score points whenever they want (which is precisely what the Lions have done with Johnson since 2022), Johnson is much less concerned with how often a quarterback turns the ball over.

Johnson served as offensive coordinator for three years, and throughout that time, his offense never finished lower than fifth in the NFL in terms of points scored. The Lions had the league’s greatest offensive in 2024, his most recent season, finishing first in scoring and second in yards.

Mike Tomlin, the head coach of the Steelers, is offended by Ben Johnson's quarterback remarks.

Jared Goff is the player who has profited the most from Johnson’s presence. As soon as Johnson arrived, the seasoned quarterback brought his faltering NFL career back to life. Over the last two seasons, the Lions have been among the NFL’s greatest and most dangerous teams because of Johnson’s aggression.

Johnson, the new head coach in Chicago, has the same mindset that might help Caleb Williams’ career take off. Mike Tomlin needs to start taking notes.

The Steelers must increase their offensive vigor. Donte Jackson stern warning
What Ben Johnson has accomplished in his first three years as offensive coordinator requires a strong offense and a capable quarterback, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are, to be honest, still a long way from having the staff to achieve those levels. But if this team wants to contend for the Super Bowl once more, Tomlin needs to be more aggressive on offense.

The days of NFL teams playing good defenses and taking few chances are long gone. Today’s offenses and quarterbacks are just too deadly for that antiquated way of thinking to be effective.

Tomlin and his staff won’t win many postseason games if they lack the firepower to compete with the best in the AFC, but I’m not suggesting they have to be as bold as Johnson. This was evident in the final five games of the season, when the Steelers finished 0–5 and scored 14 points per game, including playoff games.

Tomlin’s philosophy is unlikely to undergo significant modifications anytime soon. In fact, he hired Arthur Smith in part to help Pittsburgh run the football and prevent expensive turnovers. In any case, Mike Tomlin should be more proactive after hearing Ben Johnson’s remarks.
