In Week 17 of the regular season, the 12-3 Buffalo Bills will face off against the 4-11 New York Jets at Highmark Stadium. A victory over New York would secure the second seed in the AFC for Buffalo. However, even with a loss, the Bills could still clinch the second spot by defeating the New England Patriots in Week 18.
Buffalo’s starting safety, Damar Hamlin, has been dealing with an injury over the past three weeks.
After playing every snap in Week 14 against the Los Angeles Rams, Hamlin appeared on the injury report in Week 15 with back and rib issues. He was listed as questionable after missing Thursday’s practice that week but was ultimately ruled out of the matchup against the Detroit Lions. Although he participated in practice on a limited basis the following week, he was once again listed as questionable and later ruled out for the game against the New England Patriots.
The Bills have indicated that Hamlin has another week to recover.
Damar Hamlin was a limited participant in practice for the second consecutive week, with the Buffalo Bills designating him as questionable. Unfortunately, the starting safety will be sidelined for a third straight game. According to Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic, the Bills have ruled out seven players, including Hamlin, for their matchup against the Jets.
A Patriots defender criticizes teammates following a humiliating defeat.
Following one of their worst losses of the season on Saturday, the Patriots players weren’t holding back.
After the Los Angeles Chargers dominated to a 33-point victory at Gillette Stadium, Keion White made a direct call for reform in New England. In contrast, Davon Godchaux attacked Patriots supporters after they loudly demanded Jerod Mayo’s dismissal during Week 17.
Daniel Ekuale also joined the parade of truthfulness because he wasn’t holding back when discussing the level of effort put out by particular players.
Ekuale shared with Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald, “I feel like some players start to give up toward the end of the fourth quarter, while others keep playing until the whistle blows.” Speaking from personal experience, he added, “I’ve seen a lot, and when things get challenging, it seems like many guys tend to give up.”
As the Bolts began to open the floodgates in Foxboro, Massachusetts, some Patriots players undoubtedly appeared checked out. Although it goes without saying that such players deserve criticism, the coaches should also be held accountable for their refusal to play hard to the very end.
