This season, Georgia football has dealt with an unusual number of injuries. Despite the challenges, the team has navigated through the season successfully, earning a spot in the SEC Championship game and remaining in contention for the College Football Playoffs.
According to Georgia’s latest injury report, several Bulldogs are making progress in their recovery ahead of Saturday’s matchup against Texas. However, key players, defensive lineman Christen Miller and running back Trevor Etienne, remain sidelined for now.
Although both players have been sidelined for some time, Kirby Smart remains optimistic about their potential return in the near future.
“They’ve been involved in portions of practice, taking some reps, and we’re hopeful they’ll be able to contribute,” Smart shared with 247sports.com. “Right now, they’re listed as doubtful, though. Next question.”
Will Miller or Etienne make their return this weekend?
Although it’s encouraging to hear that Etienne and Miller are back to practice and receiving some reps with the squad, Smart’s remark does not raise the likelihood that they will play on Saturday against Texas.
The fast way that Smart closes his response to this question suggests that they will not play versus Texas, even though he says he’s hopeful that they can do something. They haven’t been formally ruled out yet, though, since Georgia’s injury report notes that they are questionable.
There is some good news to take away from this, though, as Georgia supporters wait to know if either will play against Texas. Both players should be well by the time Georgia plays its first CFP game. The SEC Championship game is obviously less important than that game, so perhaps both will be prepared by then.
