With a 10-2 record, the Buffalo Bills are leading the AFC East and have a clear route to the playoffs. The upstate New York team, led by quarterback Josh Allen, is coming off a seven-game winning streak and is getting ready to take on the Los Angeles Rams, who are 6-6, this coming Sunday.
Keon Coleman, a former Florida State standout wide receiver, has seen both on-field success and humorous off-field antics during his NFL rookie season. With 417 receiving yards, three touchdowns, and an average of 19 yards per reception in nine games this season, he has given the Bills more personality as they and the Bills Mafia strive for a Lombardi Trophy to be won in Buffalo.
Coleman told reporters, “I’m never too good for it,” after being seen bouncing into the snow while rolling around outside the Bills’ practice facility.
The wide receiver group appeared to be on the same page about the tradition. “If they drop too many passes during pre-game prep, you’re stuck after practice,” Coleman said.
“You failed to notice it? You have to jump in the snow when you drop a couple passes, as I did. Coleman went on, “Some of the receivers had to go roll around in there.”
When asked about his wacky teammate Mack Hollins’ dive in the snow, the youthful second-rounder from Opelousas, Louisiana, continued to be jovial, personable, and charismatic. After a recent Buffalo blizzard, Hollins stripped down to his underwear and lay down in the snow, a move that went viral in the Bills’ cosmos. Hollins took part in the after-practice punishment.
“What’s the best way to cold dive in the snow? Did he simply get into a tub that he had filled with snow? Did he simply sit in the snow? When a reporter described the deed as a “cold plunge,” Coleman asked with a laugh. “He — I call BS.”
Despite a couple setbacks due to injuries, the early Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate never backs down from being sincere. Sean McDermott, the head coach of the Bills, stated that although he is still limited going into Sunday’s game, he has been taking part in practice.
