The past few days have not been nice for the Ohio State Buckeyes football program. Ohio State was defeated 13–10 by Michigan in Columbus during Week 14. Ohio State was ousted from the Big Ten championship game as a result of that defeat, and Buckeyes supporters went into a frenzy, demanding that Ryan Day be fired.
Zahir Mathis, a 2025 EDGE commit, informed Ohio State on Monday that he would not be signing with the program. As Early Signing Day got underway on Wednesday, Ohio State received even more unfavorable news. The five-star cornerback in the Class of 2025, Na’eem Offord, has suddenly switched his Ohio State commitment to Oregon.
When it was Offord’s turn, a projector screen was lowered, and an Oregon hype film with Dan Lanning and many others was shown. The ceremony was hosted by Parker High School. Offord put on an Auburn hat, threw it away, then put the Oregon hat on his head once the film concluded and the screen appeared. “SCO Ducks,” stated Offord.
Offord considered playing for Ohio State, Auburn, and Oregon, but in the end, he decided to travel to Eugene and join the Ducks. Although Offord had been committed to Ohio State since February 2024, he visited Florida during the season and then went on trips to Alabama and Oregon in June.
Offord will now play for Dan Lanning’s Oregon Ducks after withdrawing from his Ohio State pledge. According to 247Sports, Offord is listed as the 11th overall player and the second-best cornerback in the class. Offord attends Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama, and numerous programs were interested in tracking his recruitment.
He now abandons his commitment to Ohio State to play for the nation’s top squad.
