Recruits in the Class of 2025 can sign their letters of intent to formally commit to their college football program during the early three-day signing window, which began Wednesday. On Friday, the three-day signing period comes to an end.
Instead of waiting for the national signing day later in February, more elite prospects have signed their letters of intent in December as the early signing day has become more popular in recent years. According to 247 Sports’ national composite ranking, 45 out of the top 50 prospects had signed their letters of intent as of Wednesday afternoon.
Early signing day is today!
The early three-day signing window opened Wednesday for recruits in the Class of 2025 to sign their letters of intent to formally commit to their college football program. The three-day signing period ends this Friday.
As the early signing day has gained popularity in recent years, many top prospects have signed their letters of intent in December rather than waiting for the national signing day later in February. As of Wednesday afternoon, 45 of the top 50 players had signed their letters of intent, according to the national composite ranking from 247 Sports.
Steve Sarkisian’s program had the highest haul in the 2025 recruiting class as of Wednesday afternoon. Jonah Williams, who is ranked ninth in 247’s top-100 composite rankings, is the greatest talent in its class. Both Jaime Ffrench and Kaliq Lockett were listed in the top seven wide receivers in 247’s composite rankings because they are expected to catch passes from Arch Manning in the near future. Texas’ offense may also benefit from Michael Terry III, a two-way standout in high school.
With one of the deepest rosters in the league, Texas is practically guaranteed to qualify for the College Football Playoffs. The 2025 recruiting class should help Sarkisian keep Texas among the best in the game for a while, despite the fact that the Longhorns should anticipate some turnover at the end of the season.
2. Alabama (commitments of 22)
Four 5-star commits or signees (QB) OT Ty Haywood committed; CB Dijon Lee, IOL Michaell Carroll, and Keelon Russell signed.
Four-star recruits/commits: 14 (RB, OT Jackson Lloyd) Dear Akylin, EDGE S. Justin Hill CB Ivan Taylor Chuck McDonald was one of 247 composite prospects in the top 100; all of them signed.
Three-star commits or signees: three
A total score of 304.69
Alabama’s first full recruiting class under Kalen DeBoer is one of the best in the country. The star of the bunch is Keelon Russell, who is ranked as the second-best prospect in 247’s composite rankings. Russell’s decision means that, even if Jalen Milroe declares for the draft, Alabama will have few quarterback choices for the upcoming campaign. Late Wednesday, the Crimson Tide also moved their class up to No. 2 in the rankings by snagging LSU’s four-star receiver Derek Meadows.
3. Georgia (commitments of 27)
In order to complete this class, Kirby Smart was able to rely on in-state talent. As of Wednesday, four of the top five prospects in the state—Zayden Walker, Elijah Griffin, Elyiss Williams, and Isaiah Gibson—had signed, and Georgia is vying for defensive lineman Justus Terry, who is also among the top five players in Georgia. Given that Terry, Gibson, and Griffin are all in the top 10 of 247’s composite rankings, Smart is probably going to have another elite defense.
4. With 21 committed, Oregon
Four five-star pledges or signees (S Trey McNutt, WR Dallas Wilson, CB Na’eem Offord, and WR Dakorien Moore; all signed)
15 4-star pledges or signees (all signed; CB Brandon Finney, CB Dorian Brew, OT Douglas Utu, QB Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele, and IOL Ziyare Addison were among 247’s top 100 composite prospects).
3-star commits and signees: 2
Total score: 300.60
As the signing season begins, Oregon has risen in 247’s composite class rankings. As a result, Ohio State lost five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord, making Oregon the second-best corner prospect and 11th-ranked recruit in 247’s composite rankings. Four-star edge rusher Tobi Haastrup committed to the Ducks, and four-star quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele left Cal.
Furthermore, Oregon stacked up at wide receiver, acquiring the Class of 2025’s top wide receiver prospects, Dakorien Moore at number one and Dallas Wilson at number three.
5. With 26 commits, Ohio State
Two 5-star commits or signees (QB Tavien St. Clair and CB Devin Sanchez; both signed)
20 4-star commits and signees (LB) WR Quincy Porter, OT Carter Lowe, S Faheem Delane, Retti Pettijohn, and EDGE Zion Grady were all signed after ranking among 247’s top 100 composite prospects.
Four 3-star signees and commits; 297.60 composite signees and commits
After losing Offord to Oregon on Wednesday, Ohio State’s rating suffered, but Ryan Day is expected to bring another top-five class to Columbus. Tavien St. Clair, who is considered by some analysts to be the second-best quarterback in the class, and Devin Sanchez are both in the top 10 of 247’s composite ranking.
Additionally, Ohio State may have snagged the 2025 recruit with the best name. As of Wednesday afternoon, the Buckeyes have signed 25 players, including Cleveland native and four-star running back Bo Jackson.
