The Lakers of Los Angeles are in shock. After suffering their worst defeat of the season, a 109-80 thumping by the Minnesota Timberwolves, they have dropped to ninth place in the Western Conference. In his first season as an NBA coach, JJ Redick is already starting to face challenges. Despite having two of the league’s top players in LeBron James and Anthony Davis, he has struggled to recover from injuries to Jarred Vanderbilt, Christian Wood, and Jaxson Hayes.
Despite Redick’s similar 12-9 record in his first 21 games as head coach, the Lakers fired Darvin Ham over the offseason. Redick is beginning to face questions following his crushing defeat by the Timberwolves, and one former NBA player has had enough. Redick should be sacked, in Gilbert Arenas’ opinion.
In the Tuesday episode of “Gil’s Arena,” Arenas stated, “Put it like this: J.J. would’ve gotten fired last night if it was up to me.” It is extremely improbable that the Lakers are considering moving on from Redick because he is still relatively early in his coaching career. As a new coach, he is up against some difficult challenges, but he still has 61 games left in the season to make a difference.
Draymond Green gives a “father time” reason for LeBron James’ Lakers slump.
People’s attention has been drawn to star LeBron James’ recent troubles when the Los Angeles Lakers play the Miami Heat on Wednesday night. Although there has been discussion about James’ potential retirement, Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green shared his thoughts on the Lakers star’s current slump.
In his self-titled show, which aired on Tuesday, Green discussed James. He acknowledged that “father time” is catching up to the greatest basketball player of all time, but not to the point where he should think about retiring right away.
According to Green, “father time catches up to everyone, so it’s definitely catching up to him.” I disagree, though, with the statements that “we just saw it, he’s done now, we’ve been waiting on it, he’s done.” No, I don’t agree with that at all. To be honest, it appears to me that he is a little worn out.
Green went on, “They played into the playoffs last year, and they had to fight really hard to get there and make it to the playoffs, and then he comes in and does the Olympics.” That is a two-month obligation with no vacation time. Therefore, I believe that Bron has now somewhat reached a wall. I think he’s a little tired right now, but when you hit a wall, you finally get through it. Does that imply that, as you all say, father time is catching up with him? No.
LeBron James of the Lakers describes the offense as “nasty.”
In addition to Green, some former players, including as Jeff Teague, have stated that James ought to retire following the recent troubles. James is presently shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from outside the arc, averaging 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game.
James has not made a single shot from beyond the arc in the last four games out of 19 attempts, which is part of his ongoing problems. According to ESPN, James was more concerned with the team’s progress than with whether he would be able to play all 82 games at the age of 40.
We’ll see, but [playing 82 games] is a goal. I’m not talking about it at the moment,” James remarked. “At the moment, our offense is nasty.”
The Lakers, who are now 12-9 and in ninth place in the Western Conference, will try to get back on track on Wednesday night against the Heat, James’ old team.
