Four-Star Recruit, an interior offensive lineman from Evans, Georgia, won’t have to go far for his college journey. Formerly committed to Alabama, Short has officially signed with the University of Georgia, opting to stay close to home.
Short, the first recruit announced by Georgia on National Signing Day, is ranked No. 52 in Georgia, No. 386 nationally, and No. 30 among interior offensive linemen.
“With Georgia, you can’t go wrong,” Short told On3 following his commitment. “It’s a program known for consistently developing NFL talent and fostering growth.”
In April, Short opted for Georgia over Ohio State, Clemson, and Kentucky. One of the main things that set the Bulldogs apart from the others was his friendship with Stacy Searels, the offensive line coach at UGA.
One of the top offensive line coaches in the nation is most likely coach Stacy Searels. He added, “I was drawn to the program and Coach Searels because of his relationships with his guys, how they support him, his coaching, and his teaching, as well as their interactions with one another on and off the field.” “Coach Kirby Smart’s message to his players is no different. “You can’t hide from the smoke at Georgia,” he says. That is true in many locations, but it is especially true in Georgia.
After seven offensive linemen signed in 2024, Short is one of five in the Class of 2025. Other players include four-star Cortez Smith of Parkview, Juan Gaston of Westlake, Dontrell Glover of Langston Hughes, and Dennis Uzochukwu of Peachtree Ridge, Georgia.
The Coach’s Report
Barrett Davis, head coach of Evans High School, stated, “Having a child like him in the program has been a blessing.” “Having any outstanding child in the program, regardless of athletic ability, is a blessing. Mason is a modest young man. He’s certainly a large kid. He has been a blessing to us at the high school, a servant leader who works hard and earns good grades. For him, nothing is too large or too tiny.
