The Miami Heat’s front office may not have much of a plan at all, despite the fact that many fans are still speculating about their strategy for the February trade deadline.
Depending on where they finished in the Eastern Conference, it seemed clear going into the season that the Heat would either trade for Tyler Herro or Jimmy Butler. With no apparent plans to significantly alter the roster, team president Pat Riley is instead putting his faith in the existing rotation.
On The OGs podcast with Heat legend Udonis Haslem, Riley stated, “You’ve got to bring all this [expletive] together—Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Terry Rozier, and the rest of the guys backing them up. Put it all together, get out there, and win. I believe they’re more than capable of doing it.”
The community will probably be irritated by this comment because the Heat enjoy getting involved in speculations involving the best players in the league. It seems more plausible that Butler will be traded if Riley has no plans to add another star.
Running it back with another Play-In Tournament appearance and losing in the early postseason rounds is the worst course of action Miami’s head office can adopt this year.
An NBA legend says Zach Edey was a target for the Miami Heat.
Zach Edey, a two-time NCAA National Player of the Year, was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the ninth choice in the 2024 NBA Draft, presumably finding a gem.
Despite playing only 20.1 minutes each night, Edey, a 7-foot-4 wonder, is averaging 11.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks through 14 games. Although Edey’s size and skill set were questioned by many pundits, the 22-year-old center has excelled in his few opportunities this season.
While Memphis wasn’t the only team eyeing Edey ahead of the draft, it seems the Grizzlies have found their franchise center in him.
Before draft night, Miami Heat legend Alonzo Mourning revealed on The Big Podcast with Shaquille O’Neal that the South Beach team had significant interest in Edey.
“During our pre-draft workouts, we really enjoyed Zach Edey,” Mourning remarked. We were examining it, after all. He worked out well with us man before the draft. I adore that he is one of those individuals who is dedicated to improving. He obviously had a fantastic time at college. He is a big player. strives to control the paint, sets nice screens, rolls hard to the basket, and has a paint presence. Zach appeals to me. He will have a fantastic career, in my opinion.
