It is more crucial than ever for Georgia football to stay as healthy as possible because they are just one game away from starting postseason action. Kirby Smart may have been a little careful knowing his team didn’t need to be at full strength for this game, which is why the Bulldogs’ injury list for the UMass game this past weekend was so long.
When questioned on Monday on all of these issues, Smart gave four crucial and encouraging updates before this weekend’s matchup with Georgia Tech.
Anthony Evans and Dillon Bell, wide receivers
Wide receivers Anthony Evans and Dillon Bell were the first two players Smart mentioned.
Bell hasn’t been seen on the field since suffering an ankle injury during the victory over Tennessee. However, because he was asked to assist at running back due to all the injuries occurring there, this injury was significant for a number of reasons.
nonetheless, after battling a hamstring ailment this season, Evans returned during the Tennessee game; nonetheless, he was benched against UMass this weekend. This might have been one of those situations where someone was put to sleep for safety’s sake.
Despite missing the game against UMass, both players seem to be healthy enough to play against Georgia Tech coming Friday.
“I believe both players will be ready to contribute, but we’ll see for sure after today’s practice,” Smart said in an interview with 247sports.com.
RBs Roderick Robinson and Branson Robinson
At running back, Georgia needs assistance. Even though Nate Frazier has performed admirably throughout the absence of many of his teammates, it is not ideal to have just one reliable, healthy running back at the position. It appears that both running backs Roderick Robinson and Branson Robinson, who have been out for a very long time, may be returning very soon.
According to Smart, “they’re going to do more today than they have,” “I assume you all saw them on the Saturday run. Yesterday, they accomplished more. We’re thrilled for those guys to return to work because, although we’re living day to day with them, there is a chance.”
Both athletes were spotted exercising on the field prior to the match versus UMass. This is the first time that anyone has witnessed either player exercising in such a public place, even though they were both already disqualified from the game. It’s incredible to learn that both of them have accomplished more today than they have at any other time during their recuperation, according to Smart.
Although it’s unknown if either will be prepared to play Georgia Tech on Friday, there’s a good possibility they’ll be healthy and ready when the College Football Playoffs start.
