When the Washington Commanders played the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12, they deserved nothing. Late in the game, they had a chance to turn things around, but kicker Austin Seibert’s botched extra point sent Dan Quinn’s team into their third straight defeat.
Up until now, Seibert has been virtually automatic during the campaign. Remember that this was his first game back after missing the previous two due to a hamstring injury. It’s debatable if that was a contributing factor, but Tyler Ott’s miscalculated long snap didn’t exactly help when the game was on the line.
Seibert was disappointed in Washington’s locker room following the game, which was not surprising. Speaking to the reporters, he became quite emotional, even crying as he had to describe what happened before his important choking. For the player, what matters is that this moment does not define the remainder of his campaign.
Seibert had his teammates rallying behind him. Given the usual easiness of the extra point, he will be mostly held responsible for Washington’s doom, but he wasn’t the sole cause. Overall, special teams were a comedy of errors, and even with their late comeback, the offense appeared out of sync.
Austin Seibert, the kicker for the Commanders, is cheaply attacked by CeeDee Lamb.
The Cowboys locker room was not the place for Seibert to find compassion after his mistake. A player who is acquainted with him even made the effort to say something impolite.
Seibert’s collegiate teammate at Oklahoma, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, decided against taking the high road. His scathing remark directed at the kicker was inappropriate and devoid of any moral character.
The intense division rivalry between the two NFC East rivals is typified by this. Even when it comes to former college teammates, love never dies.
Lamb believed that the best course of action was to take a cheap shot. When the two teams rematch in their Week 18 regular-season finale, Seibert and the Commanders team as a whole should be directly motivated to play better.
How you get back up after being knocked down is more important than how you got there.

A kicker’s life is infamously unstable. After moving around the league before settling in Washington, Seibert is all too familiar with that. The easiest approach to silence Lamb and the rest of his detractors is to move on from this as soon as possible and get back to his early-season form.
That also applies to the other people in the Commanders’ building. It is becoming worse at the worst possible moment. The players must develop the sense of unity that previously led them to 7-2, and Quinn and his staff must adapt accordingly.
