Decision-makers at the Giants gain a lot of knowledge on Colorado’s standout quarterback.

Attending Saturday’s Colorado-Utah game, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen and director of player personnel Tim McDonnell closely watched Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who is anticipated to be a top pick in the draft the following year.

The Giants were pleased with Shedeur Sanders.

The quarterback, the son of Colorado head coach and pro football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, was well-known to the Giants. Shedeur led the Buffaloes to a 49-24 victory over the Utes with 340 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and one interception.

In order to put his team ahead 7-3 in the first quarter, Sanders would settle in the following drive and throw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Will Sheppard. The Buffaloes never trailed the rest of the way, so for Sanders, it was simply another day at work.

After a difficult start, Sanders undoubtedly made a positive impression on Schoen and other Giants staff members, as their 49 points were also a season-high for Colorado. Sanders has demonstrated an exceptional pocket presence due to his mobility, frequently extending plays beyond the pocket and making accurate throws downfield, in addition to his ability to react swiftly to adversity.

Giants' decision makers learn a lot about Colorado star quarterback

In 2025, the Giants plan to select a quarterback in the draft.

Daniel Jones has struggled into his sixth season, so the Giants will be desperate to find a new quarterback this offseason. With an average of 15.6 points per game, the team is 2-8 and has the NFL’s lowest scoring offense.

Given that season-long record, New York is well-positioned to choose with the first or second overall pick, which might include Sanders. They will also be monitoring Carson Beck of Georgia and Cam Ward of Miami at quarterback.

In 2025, will the Giants select Sanders? Time will tell.
