He sustained the injury after getting tangled up on a screen during Friday’s loss to the Lakers, which caused him to miss last night’s 114-102 win over the Dallas Mavericks in Phoenix’s home opener. In his absence, rookie Ryan Dunn stepped up, scoring 13 points on 5 of 8 shooting in 21 minutes. Beal has averaged 19.5 points on 53.8% shooting and 5.0 assists in two games this season for the Suns (2-1).
On a positive note for the Suns, Grayson Allen (personal) is back and off the injury report. Allen, who missed the last two games, led the league in 3-point shooting percentage last season (46.1%). In 21 minutes off the bench, he scored eight points on two of seven shots in the Suns’ 116-113 win over the Los Angeles Clippers to start the season.

The Knicks are pushed to exchange the Suns’ standout guard for the All-standout center.
Since December 2023, the New York Knicks have been among the most active teams on the free market, which has helped the team rise to genuine title contention. A latest suggestion has the Knicks making one more transaction that might put a cap on all the work they’ve done to differentiate themselves from the other teams in the Eastern Conference, even though it took a lot of negotiating to create the roster they currently possess.
Knicks: Devin Booker’s mock trade lists Karl-Anthony Towns as the ideal trade partner.
Colin Keane of The Sporting News suggests that the New York Knicks should trade newly acquired All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for All-Star shooting guard Devin Booker. Keane supports this proposal by noting that both players have nearly identical salaries of $49.2 million for the 2024–2025 season, which could make the deal feasible for both teams. He also explained:
“By adding Towns, moving Jusuf Nurkic to a bench big role (where he would thrive), and freeing up Durant and Beal to play without needing to share the ball with a third wing, the Suns could improve and balance their roster,” Keane wrote.
If the Knicks were to acquire Booker, they would finally land the elite offensive wing they’ve long desired. A combination of Jalen Brunson and Booker would be formidable, and the Knicks could find affordable big man help in free agency if Mitchell Robinson or the much-improved Jericho Sims struggle with injuries.
However, despite Booker’s impressive scoring, the Knicks might prefer to keep Towns.
The Knicks would finally have the outstanding offensive wing they’ve been craving for a very long time if they were to get Booker. Brunson and Booker would be a great combination, and the Knicks could acquire some big man help on the free agent market for a low cost if Mitchell Robinson and the much-improved Jericho Sims have trouble staying healthy.
Despite Booker’s tremendous scoring ability, the Knicks might want to keep Towns.
Even though the Knicks have made a number of adjustments recently that have improved their skill on both ends of the court, New York may not be able to handle another significant, sudden move anytime soon. In the frontcourt, Towns is already a defensive improvement over Julius Randle, a 2024 All-Star and former Knicks player. The Knicks’ weakest position on the roster is the center position, which is made worse by Mitchell Robinson’s injury, which will keep him out until 2025.
Booker is a talented scorer who is possibly the greatest at scoring points in the opening quarter of games in the Association. Even while he would help New York thrash opponents from the first tip, he had shortcomings, most notably the inability to consistently produce well into the playoffs.
The Knicks, who are, quite frankly, set at both guard positions and small forward at that, would also lose a lot defensively if they added the Kentucky product in exchange for their two-time All-NBA honoree. Although Towns has experienced his fair share of playoff disappointments, his 2023–24 campaign performance, which included leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals, as well as his exceptional outside shooting, playmaking, and strong interior defense, make him a vital member of the Knicks’ M-O that they may want to keep for at least one season.
