As the 1-3 Cleveland Browns prepare for Week 5, they should expect more hardships. A vital pass rusher will be out of the Browns lineup for the duration of the season.

After the first four games of the season, the Browns’ defense has 11 sacks, which is the 15th highest in the league. With four sacks, Myles Garrett leads the team; Za’Darius Smith has the second-highest total with two.

Alex Wright, a defense end in his third year, has already accumulated one sack and will not be adding any more in 2024. Wright revealed on X that his triceps injury, which happened in a “freak accident” during Week 2, would keep him out of the game for the rest of the season.

“After the Jacksonville game, I got an MRI on my tricep because i was dealing with pain from a strain in the same spot during joint practice vs the vikings,” Wright wrote on X. I didn’t even use my right arm during the play, so somehow it turned into a freak accident. So even after learning about it, I persevered despite the discomfort. After my most recent MRI, I discovered that the partial tear had gotten worse. I will therefore be missing the remainder of the season due to surgery that is already underway.”

Wright may be done for 2024, but he intends to come back the next year. Wright was chosen by the Browns during the third round of the 2022 draft. The UAB standout has made 37 appearances for Cleveland, starting six of them. In his three-year career, he has five sacks and 61 total tackles.

The 53-man roster of the Browns includes defensive ends Garrett, Smith, Ogbo Okoronkwo, and Isaiah McGuire. Defensive end Elerson Smith is on the practice squad.

For over a year, Nick Chubb has been sidelined by the Cleveland Browns while he recovers from surgery on his knee.

Chubb and the Browns are both benefiting from his return to practice this week on the same field where he spent more than a year as a player.

Chubb acknowledged the bizarre nature of the experience in a video clip that analyst Camryn Justice put on X, sharing his thoughts.

Chubb stated, “It felt like a dream. It didn’t feel real.” I’ve been fighting this for a while, so being able to finally get back out there and let all of that go felt fantastic.

Chubb, for his part, was eager to get back into the game with his teammates.

Chubb remarked, “It felt nice to go back out there with the guys. It’s been a long time since I’ve been out there, so it’s been almost a full year. I’ve been managing things alone for some time now.

Just before he resumed practice on Wednesday, the four-time Pro Bowl running back was taken off the Physically Unable to Play (PUP) list.

During his time off the field this season, Cleveland’s running game has been hit or miss since the Browns have centered their offense around a pass-friendly strategy that was put in place this offseason by Ken Dorsey.

Nevertheless, Chubb’s comeback might cause the team’s attitude to shift significantly and the Cleveland rushing assault to find new life.
