Sanders later explained on his show “2Legendary” that he chose not to shake hands due to offensive comments made by Fowler-Nicolosi. Sanders said he felt disrespected and didn’t want to pretend that everything was fine between them.

“After the game, I said something to him because he was talking crazy on social media, doing it for the clicks,” Sanders explained. “Yes, I spoke up because I’m human. You can’t talk about us the way you do and then act like it’s all good.”

Sanders also expressed frustration with the media for portraying him as the bad guy without showing the full context. “It felt like a lot of hate, but the media made it seem like I did something wrong. We know what’s really going on and don’t let it affect us.”

Before the game, Fowler-Nicolosi had criticized Colorado for focusing more on social media than football, saying, “We’ll see how far they go with Instagram followers.” However, after the game, Fowler-Nicolosi had only 209 yards and two interceptions, while Sanders had the last laugh with 310 passing yards and four touchdowns.
