Lamar Jackson, the quarterback for the Ravens, has lived up to the hype. He has been trying his hardest to keep the club in games by making plays all over the field. But he has too much on his plate right now.

Even though he is incredible and electrifying, this squad needs more from the other stars. Still, there are other areas in which this team needs to go better. The attacking line must locate a dependable group. It’s time to abolish the careless penalties and unintentional mistakes. Improved playcalling is required. There’s not enough time to explore the subtleties and plenty to solve.

These are frequent incidents that the Ravens must address, and they must do so quickly. The Ravens are winless at 0-2 on the season following a defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 2. Regretfully, things don’t get much easier with the Ravens schedule. Actually, it just gets harder.

Following a Week 1 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Week 2 matchup with the Raiders was expected to be their “easy” game before a punishing stretch of the schedule. The Ravens are in danger now that they have lost to the Raiders, and they will need to perform like the team we know they are to get through the challenging schedule that lies ahead.

The Ravens have an awful string of circumstances that have left them in a hole that might only get deeper. Aside from the Chiefs’ reasonable setback, Baltimore’s Week 2 loss to the Raiders was terrible and will mean they have some games they absolutely must win going forward.

The Baltimore Ravens’ next three opponents are the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, and Buffalo Bills. With Dak Prescott of Dallas, Josh Allen of Buffalo, and Joe Burrow of Cincinnati, each team boasts a quarterback ranked in the top ten.

Before the season started, we were aware of how difficult the Ravens’ schedule would be, but losing at this stage of the schedule must be quite concerning to supporters. By the end of this stretch of the schedule, Baltimore might be 0–5. It’s really concerning. With only two of the 103 teams who began 0-3 in the postseason since 2002, the Cowboys’ Week 3 clash carries a lot of “must-win” pressure.

Many still have faith in the Cowboys and Bengals, despite the fact that the Bills are the only team among the three currently unbeaten. All three opponents are still ranked in the top 20 in ESPN’s power rankings for Week 3. Power rankings are only a glimpse of where teams are at any particular time, thus it’s important to take it seriously. This season, any of these three teams might very well take the top slot, which is what makes it so difficult.

Historically, Baltimore has stayed away when the lights are brightest. The underlying factor—that pressure will increase and the lights will get brighter the more games the Ravens lose—should add to this layer of horror. Nobody will be to blame and nowhere to run to. Now that Halloween has officially arrived, the Ravens have caused concern among their supporters.

The news is good. Perhaps most frustratingly, the Ravens haven’t added a victory to their record, but it doesn’t mean they haven’t proven they are still a competitive football club. For the whole sixty minutes, the Ravens were in the Chiefs game. The Raiders game is no exception. Their careless play and careless mistakes cost them both, and now comes the real test.

It’s unlikely that the Ravens will finish this stretch of games 0–5 (though it’s still possible), but it’s also difficult to see them finishing with a 3-2 record. We think the Cowboys and Bills will be defeated by the Ravens, who will finish 2-3. In any case, Baltimore is in for a nightmare. But in order to be the best, you must surpass the best. Pro Bowl tight end Jake Ferguson has been putting in effort to get back on the field, and his practice on Wednesday was a positive start.

Before the team’s crushing defeat to the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, Ferguson was back on the field trying to heal his ailing knee, but he was eventually out for at least one more week.

Barring any setbacks, there’s a good chance he might play this week against the Baltimore Ravens if he can engage in every aspect of practice. That would be a huge boost for the Cowboys offense.

Ferguson was selected to the Pro Bowl after having a breakout season the previous year with 71 receptions for 761 yards and five touchdowns.

On Sunday, September 22, the Cowboys and Ravens will kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET.
