Commanders Anticipated Adding Super Bowl Winner Through NFC East Opponent (Source: Report)
On Sunday, the Washington Commanders defeated the New York Giants and earned a much-needed first victory. For a franchise that is relaunching, the victory offered hope. Through two games, Jayden Daniels has shown excellent efficiency thus far. With 410 yards and 75% completion rate, he has passed for 410 yards without any interceptions or touchdowns.
But as the season goes on, Washington might find itself in a strong position to sign a former division opponent.
Report: Eagles Anticipate Completing Another Inter-Division Trade
The Scouting Department of Bleacher Report outlined one possible path for a former starter for the Philadelphia Eagles to end up at the nation’s capital:
One of the Commanders’ main problems is at cornerback, where they need aid. A veteran like Roby would be a wise addition to the meeting room to bring some expertise, as the defense is quite inexperienced at the position.
His prior experience covering the boundary and the slot is also beneficial.
When he was 32 years old in 2023, he made his final appearance with the Philadelphia Eagles. Pro Football Reference reports that in nine games, he had 22 tackles, one forced fumble, and 20 completions on 33 targets.
Roby played for the Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, and Denver Broncos, where he won the Super Bowl 50.
Dan Quinn of Commanders Indicates Jayden Daniels Needs to Improve
Following a 21-18 victory over the New York Giants, the Washington Commanders are now 1-1 on the season, and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is starting to show growth. Coach Dan Quinn, though, is looking for more.
There have been occasions in the first two weeks where Jayden could have found a receiver downfield instead, and Quinn wants to see him develop in that aspect of his game given Daniels’ propensity to gain quick yards with his legs.
Quinn stated, “Jayden is just entering his third game.” We would have preferred to have seen him take a few down the field. As you approach the line of scrimmage to throw the ball down the field, some of them are even scrambling to stay in the passing lanes.”
Daniels hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass in his first two games, but he has also not turned the ball over while completing 75.5 percent of his throws for 410 yards.
Along with that, he has demonstrated his dual-threat abilities by rushing for 132 yards and two touchdowns. But improving as a passer is the first need for Daniels if he is to become the quarterback that the Commanders need and want him to be.
Quinn is hinting that although Daniels’ legs are a special weapon, his ability to cut through a defense will make him much more lethal. Defense coordinators will be inconsolable if Daniels launches balls downfield because of the possibility of him going crazy. Daniels’ upside is still enormous despite his career’s first two games played.
