With the decommitment of four-star Javion Hilson, Florida State really needed to find some options at defensive end in the 2025 class, and they’re working hard to achieve that. The ‘Noles made an offer to an ACC defensive end commit today, following up yesterday with a scholarship offer to an incredible prospect out of Texas.
Four-star edge rusher CJ May of Highland Home, Alabama, tweeted on Thursday night that he had received an offer from FSU. He included head coach Mike Norvell and defensive ends coach John Papuchis in his announcement.

May, a 225-pound, 6-foot-4 player, has committed to Louisville since July 1. In the summer, the Cardinals defeated Syracuse, Auburn, and Washington for his commitment.
When FSU enlarged its defensive end board, Noles247 was the first to publish about May and indicate potential candidates that might earn offers. May was one of those prospects. So far, FSU is a fan of his senior footage.
54 tackles, 10 TFL, 7.5 sacks, 1 INT (TD), 2 FF, and 2 FR were his final stats during the junior season. During offensive snaps, he also made two catches for 66 yards and one touchdown.
In order to determine whether the ‘Noles have a chance to contend for a flip in the final stages, we’re trying to catch up with May.
Report on Scouting via Cooper Petagna:
Flexible pass rush specialist with the potential to become a highly effective edge presence at the collegiate level. Also displays the ability to play both on and off the ball as a linebacker. Possesses some modest hip stiffness running the hoop but demonstrates the ability to bend the edge and go home efficiently between the lines. Smoother and more abrupt than his explosive, fast twitch movements.
Shows some leadership qualities and a natural ability to move players off the line of scrimmage. plays in space at a play speed that is above average and with very little motion wasted. shows some initiative in his pass rush, but it’s still not consistently down to down. willing physicality when destroying blocks and seems to have play strength that is above average when attacking.
Will need to keep getting better at playing with greater force and shock off the edge, but his promising early performances suggest he has what it takes to develop into a better-than-average multi-year starter at the Power Four level.
