Pittsburgh Troy Fautanu, an offensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers, announced that he was the starting right tackle on Wednesday. With an MCL sprain, Fautanu missed three weeks of action after playing in the team’s opening game against the Atlanta Falcons. Ahead of the injury, he was scheduled to start.

Broderick Jones, the team’s starting right tackle in Week 1, switched back to his native left tackle position in addition to Fautanu practicing at right tackle. Dan Moore Jr., the starting left tackle, will be limited early in the week due to an ankle ailment.

Russell Wilson, the quarterback, is listed as a limited participant this week on the injury report after sitting out the season opener against the Falcons due to a calf ailment.

Although Wilson is feeling better, head coach Mike Tomlin stated during his weekly press conference on Tuesday that he is getting ready for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos as though Justin Fields will start.

Regarding Wilson, Tomlin stated, “He feels better (Tuesday) than he did over the weekend.” As we sit here today, I’m not sure what that implies. I am aware that when it comes to injuries, we will proceed in the same manner as we do with many others. We will begin by discussing his involvement, including how much and how well he participated. We’ll be assessing his ability to defend himself and to be productive throughout the course of the coming week.

“We’ll consider whether or not to include him when we reach certain points, and at that point, we’ll most likely be a part of that equation.

But on Tuesday, as I sit here, we’re getting ready as though Justin will start as quarterback for us. That seems like the proper course of action. It is a waste of time to speculate.

Russell is injured. We can’t get in touch with him. As you are all aware, I generally concentrate my efforts on the people who are available and prepared. I just saw Justin. This is where he just concluded a great workout on Tuesday. Excited about perhaps working on the preparation process for a full week with him.

We’ll handle things day by day. On Wednesday, Russ is not expected to work in full. I’m not sure to what extent. After that, we’ll make our own decisions based on our observations and the outcomes of whether and to what extent we think about him.”

Cornerback Following a collision late in the victory over the Falcons, Darius Rush is undergoing the concussion protocol and was limited on Wednesday.

“I don’t know what stage of the protocol he’s in, but there’s a level of anticipation in terms of him getting out of it,” added Tomlin. “We’ll take it day-by-day.”

Dan Moore Jr., a tackle, missed practice on Wednesday due to an ankle ailment that began to swell on Monday. Isaac Seumalo, a guard, skipped practice as well.

Things are improving for Roman Wilson, the receiver. Wilson sustained an ankle injury early in training camp and has not yet participated in any games, either in the preseason or the regular season. On Wednesday, he was constrained.

“We anticipate increased involvement from players like Roman Wilson, who is gradually making his way back to us and participating partially at times,” said Tomlin. “We’re eager to have him fully integrated and hopefully see him make some progress.”

After Johnston’s year-long absence, the squad acquired punter Corliss Waitman.

The Steelers signed Waitman as an undrafted free agent after the 2020 NFL Draft, so the franchise is familiar with him. After the 2020 season, he signed a Reserve/Future contract after serving time on the practice squad.

After the 2021 NFL Draft, Waitman was cut by the Steelers, although he later made a comeback. After being added to the Steelers active list on December 24, Waitman managed punting against the Chiefs two days later. He punted twice in the contest for an average of 60.5 yards, including a long of 63 yards that resulted in a touchback.

Waitman has punted 103 times in his career, averaging 41.6 yards net and 46.9 yards gross. Thirty-one of his punts were inside the 20-yard line. With the Denver Broncos in 2022, he played in his most extended role, averaging 46.6 yards per punt while making 96 punts inside the 20-yard line.

“We know who Corliss is. ecstatic about him,” Tomlin remarked. “throughout those COVID years, he was a member of our extended practice squad and had a great chance to grow throughout his time here.

“While he was here, he developed his holding. Since he hadn’t had much holding experience in college, Boz (Chris Boswell) and company helped him grow in that regard. He played punting for Denver. He is therefore extremely acquainted with the setting that we will be entering, particularly with regard to this coming weekend.”
