With ESPN expecting the Florida State Seminoles to be among the top four teams in the College Football Playoff, the Seminoles entered the 2024 season with high expectations.

However, a dismal beginning to the season may have put an early end to those high expectations, and some supporters are now debating whether head coach Mike Norvell should continue in his role.

The Seminoles lost to Boston College 28–13 on Monday night after being stunned by Georgia Tech in their season opener in Dublin. With the score at 0–2, some supporters started focusing on Norvell.

Even after leading the ACC to victory and winning Coach of the Year, Norvell’s season was questioned by some despite his 13-1 record the previous year.

A fan on X commented, “College football coaching is brutal. Norvell was considered the greatest for 18 games, and now, just two or three games later, there’s an entire Spaces discussion about firing him.”

“As a coach, I no longer respect Mike Norvell. Just gave up,” wrote someone else on X. The white flag was raised. How unflattering.”

Even if Florida State supporters could be demanding a change at the top, Norvell is probably secure for the foreseeable future. The head coach’s compensation increased from $5.5 million in 2023 to $9.875 million this season after the organization signed him to a significant deal in February.

However, several supporters questioned if the large extension was actually intended to prevent Norvell from leaving for Alabama, where he was considered to be the best candidate to succeed retiring Nick Saban.

A fan on X remarked, “FSU’s administration gave Mike Norvell an extension and raise because they believed Alabama was interested in him. That might just be one of the biggest heists in history.”

Fans of Florida State University speak out against DJ Uiagalelei’s benching versus Boston College.

DJ Uiagalelei, an Oregon State quarterback transfer, was one of the major additions to the Florida State Seminoles this off-season via the college football transfer site.

It was thought that in 2023, Uiagalelei will be able to take over for Jordan Travis and help guide the Seminoles to the College Football Playoffs. Regretfully, the former five-star recruit has struggled to settle in and has had a historically poor start to the season in his first two games.

The challenges he faced in Dublin, Ireland during Week Zero have followed him to the United States, and on Monday, he and the Seminoles will take against the Boston College Eagles in Tallahassee.

Something that infuriates Seminoles supporters at the game, causing them to yell, “We want Brock,” a reference to Brock Glenn, the backup quarterback.

Thomas Castellanos of Boston College outplayed Uiagalelei during the first three quarters, and at one point, he was 0 for 5 on passes beyond the line of scrimmage. The Eagles were double-digit favorites going into the game and held a double-digit lead going into the fourth quarter.

Fans are certain that the quarterback from the previous season would be superior, even if there have only been two games.

Due to injuries to players ahead of him in the depth chart, Glenn started at quarterback for the Seminoles in their ACC Championship victory over Louisville in the previous season. Just 8 of the 21 passes for 55 yards were completed by the then-true freshman. In the Seminoles’ 63-3 loss to Georgia, he too had trouble passing, completing only 9 of 26 passes for 139 yards.

Glenn might be the only option available to the Seminoles if Uiagalelei’s struggles persist.
