Joe Musgrove struck out eight batters in six scoreless innings of work. It was Musgrove’s third consecutive excellent start. Since coming off the disabled list, Musgrove has made five starts and logged 27.2 innings at a 1.30 ERA. Prior to Monday’s series opener against Detroit, Tatis was activated by the Padres after missing 59 games over a period of more than two months.
Tatis’s right femur experienced a stress response, which led to his placement on the disabled list on June 24. Later on, the team transferred him on the 60-Day IL. Tatis stated prior to kickoff, “It’s not 100 percent, but the doctors have cleared me.”

Before getting hurt, Tatis enjoyed an All-Star season. With an OPS of.821, the 25-year-old right fielder was hitting.279. In addition to driving in 36 runs, he had 14 home runs.
After his most recent game, the Padres were tied for the lead, but despite long-term absences from Tatis, Joe Musgrove, and Yu Darvish, the team was able to go on a tear. With Tatis out, Mike Shildt’s club went 38–21.

Following the victory on Monday, Shildt declared that Darvish will start on Wednesday. His first appearance since May 29 will be this one. Early in June, the seasoned righty placed himself on the restricted list in order to handle a personal issue.
“What I miss the most is just being out there with this team on the field.” Tatis continued. “When you see talent like that, you just want to join and add a little bit to what this special group has been doing. It’s a really special group.” That just excites me.”
