Deion Sanders, the head coach of Colorado, has never shied away from telling his detractors that he hears what they have to say.

After Colorado defeated TCU in the opening game of the previous season, he removed receipts; on Friday night, the day following their first victory of 2024, he did the same.

Just one day after the Buffs defeated North Dakota State, Sanders responded to those who had previously branded him a sell-out in a late-night post. Although the specific reason for this post is unknown at this time, it could be related to the criticism he received for leaving Jackson State, an HBCU program, for a primarily white university (Colorado) at the end of the previous season.

Sanders has performed to numerous sold-out crowds in Boulder. For the first time in the history of the program, every game sold out of tickets for the 2023 season. Their prior best came in 1993 when they won five out of six games.

According to Brian Howell of Buff Zone, Colorado had not yet sold out for their Week 1 match as of the beginning of Thursday’s game, but he did say they were getting close.

Before the game, Howell wrote, “As of right now, tonight’s game is not a sellout.” “The Buffs aren’t there yet, but there might be some walk-up that turns it into a sellout. For the first time in the history of the program, CU sold out every home game last year.”

The Colorado game against Nebraska next week will undoubtedly take place in front of a packed house at the stadium. The Buffs crushed the Corn Huskers 36–14, but Dylan Raiola, a five-star rookie quarterback, will now face Shedeur Sanders in the starting lineup for Nebraska.

After defeating NDSU, Deion Sanders was brutally honest with his teammates in the locker room.

In their season debut versus North Dakota State, the Colorado Buffaloes narrowly prevailed 31–26. Head coach Deion Sanders wasn’t happy with the performance, even though Colorado supporters were probably happy to see their team back in the win column for the first time since before Halloween. Sanders told the squad in the locker room that it felt like a loss even though they had more points in a video that Well Off Media posted.

Sanders questioned the team, saying, “You ever felt like you had more points than the other team but they won?” That’s my current state of mind. Even though we had more points, I think they prevailed.”

ESPN had Colorado favored by 11.5 points going into the game, but the Bison dominated the first half. Colorado had the ball for roughly eight minutes, whereas they had it for more over twenty-one. The FCS power was ahead 20–17 at the half.

Robert Livingston, the new defensive coordinator for Colorado, made alterations at halftime that appeared to be effective as they kept the Bison scoreless in the third quarter. But thanks to a 20-yard touchdown run by Cam Miller, North Dakota State was able to surge down the field and cut the margin to five with the Buffs leading 31-20 in the fourth quarter.

The Buffs were then forced to punt by North Dakota State, but they were unable to complete the upset in the allotted time. But it was evident from Sanders’ speech to the team—and particularly to the defense—that he thought they could have done more.

The defensive coordinator chastised his pass rushers for failing to get to the quarterback, saying the defense was set up correctly but they just didn’t execute.

Colorado’s next game is a big rivalry clash against Nebraska in Week 2, so they will need to quickly learn from their mistakes and move on. The Corn Huskers are favored by a touchdown, per DraftKings.
