First question: Which transfer player will affect Ohio State’s season the most?

If we take this question literally, I believe Will Howard is the right response. He is without a doubt going to have a bigger impact on games than anyone else on the club because he is the starting quarterback. On the other hand, I believe Quinshon Judkins has a case. Even while I fully anticipate that he and TreVeyon Henderson will split the majority of the touches, having two Heisman-caliber running backs might have a significant influence on an Ohio State offense that is still developing.

Therefore, even though the position itself would likely cause me to vote for the quarterback, I do believe that Judkins’ presence has the potential to have a significant impact even off the field.

2. Who will be this season’s Ohio State MVP?

Although Will Howard’s position at the top of the Most Impactful Transfer list undoubtedly contribute to his success, I find it surprising that he is in the lead. Although I believe the Kansas State transfer will be a valuable asset to Ryan Day and Chip Kelly’s system, I’m not sure whether I would choose him to be the team’s MVP based only on performance.

Naturally, the quarterback always has an advantage in situations like this, as was mentioned in response to the previous question. However, this team has so many other extremely talented players, many of whom will contend for individual postseason awards and All-American status, that I didn’t really consider placing Will Howard at the top of the MVP hierarchy.

But if Buckeye Nation turns out to be correct, it probably indicates that Howard will be a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and that the Buckeyes will go far in the College Football Playoffs.

The 2024–25 collegiate football season, which is scheduled to start in little over a week, is currently being prepared for by Ohio State football head coach Ryan Day and his Buckeyes. During the Day era, Ohio State has been attempting to reach the pinnacle of success for some time now, but they have not succeeded in winning a national title.

As if the prospect of being the all-time great in college football wasn’t enough, Day recently received more incentive to assist this Ohio State football team win the championship when Joey Kaufman of The Columbus Dispatch revealed some fresh potential bonuses to his contract.

After the university changed the performance-based incentives in his contract, Day “may receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional bonus pay,” according to Kaufman.

The move, according to reports, “would allow Day to receive as much as $1.55 million in incentives. It remains subject to approval from the full board of trustees on Thursday after passing a talent, compensation, and governance committee.”

Naturally, the reason for Day’s possible higher incentives should his team advance to the big dance is that this is the first season under the new, expanded 12-team college football playoff structure. Although there are no clear favorites, it is generally anticipated that teams like Georgia and Ohio State will participate in this year’s tournament considering the regular season’s diminished significance.

Is Ohio State’s year finally here?

Ohio State football’s roster from top to bottom in 2024 will be among the best the team has had in a long time. Sadly for the Buckeyes, this also happens to be the year when there may be the largest question mark at quarterback in a very long time because Kansas State transfer Will Howard will start from the first game following a disappointing season for Kyle McCord last year.

Day will also look to end the team’s current three-year losing run against the Michigan Wolverines, the defending national champions. The Wolverines aren’t projected to be as strong this year because head coach Jim Harbaugh and many of the players who made them great last season left.

The whispers about Day’s possible position on the hot seat could become much louder if Ohio State football doesn’t succeed this year—the team starts the season rated second in both the AP and coaches poll.
